There’s few things in life that can compare to the sheer horror of being rejected by a baby as you attempt to hold it. A Whatsapp rejection or failed Tinder match from a love interest you can cope with, but when a small infant looks into your eyes and begins to wobble that lower lip, you know they’re judging you as a failure. So, take a moment to feel for Selena Gomez who just received a metaphorical palm to the face from a toddler during a stroll on Wednesday.

http://instagram.com/p/BjSuD15FAvi Far from simple vehicles for storytelling and song, Selena Gomez’s most recent stream of music videos—beginning with last summer’s “Bad Liar”—have moonlighted as opportunities for the pop star to test drive new aesthetics. And, judging by some recent shares from makeup artist Hung Vanngo, it seems this trend is destined to continue. Vanngo took to Instagram yesterday to share a clip from Gomez’s forthcoming video for her single “Back to You,” which sees her usual tousled bob exchanged for a sleek retro iteration reminiscent of Chicago’s Velma Kelly. The 1920s moment—which Vanngo first teased late last month—centered on full bangs, polished texture, and a simple tucked-under curl that forced followers to wonder whether the coif was a trompe l’oeil switch up or a feat of high-impact styling, a duet of glossy pink lip and blush eyeshadow ensuring a romantic lean. Judging from the series of quick draw scenes, Gomez’s bob plays equally well with glittering, feathered frocks and more casual, mod pairings, so who is to say the video isn’t a prelude to a real-life transformation? Let’s face it: If anyone can bring flapper back, it’s this above-neck trendsetter.

Selena Gomez - Back To You Selena Gomez After releasing her nostalgic bop “Back to You” last month, Selena Gomez has returned with an equally nostalgic music video that takes notes from classic French New Wave films, complete with subtitles and chic outfits. http://instagram.com/p/Bjm870uAonp In the video, Gomez singles out a kindred spirit from an otherwise boring party. The two run away, stealing a car before eventually setting the car on fire in a desperate, Bonnie and Clyde move to avoid jail.

Selena Gomez is not known for having the most stable relationships. I have to admit, I was really holding out for Jelena, but it looks like they're not getting back together and it's time for Selena to finally move on. Selena has had an interesting relationship with her mother, Mandy Teefey, but at the end of the day, Mandy probably knows Selena better than anyone else! It makes sense that Mandy has a few things to say about what kind of person Selena should date next. In an interview with People Magazine, Mandy revealed the qualities that Selena's next boyfriend should possess if they're going to be suitable for her daughter. The first thing he needs to have is "a sense of humour". Obviously, that's important in most relationships. We can all agree that J Biebs was definitely a funny guy, but we don't think that Mandy was talking about him.
