After a weekend full of Instagram stories, posts, and clothing giveaways, Selena Gomez announced she's taking another break from social media with an important message that everyone should remember when posting on any platform.
Selena updated the caption of the last picture she posted and wrote:
"Taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given."
Selena Gomez was hospitalized twice in the last 2 weeks ... and the second time she suffered what sources called an emotional breakdown ... she's now at a mental health facility for treatment.
Multiple sources tell TMZ, the 26-year-old singer was at her Studio City, CA home the last week of September when the first emergency hit. We're told she was despondent and emotional over an alarmingly low white blood cell count in the wake of her kidney transplant. Our sources say a family member drove her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.
We're told Selena was released days later but had to be re-admitted late last week because her low blood cell count persisted, and it threw Selena into a downward emotional spiral. Soon after she was admitted she insisted on leaving, but doctors said she couldn't. We're told Selena had "a meltdown" and "freaked out." Selena tried ripping the IV's out of her arm. Several sources called the episode "an emotional breakdown."
Selena Gomez's recent hospitalization seems to be hitting Justin Bieber pretty hard, with a source telling E! News that the "Sorry" singer feels "confused and conflicted" about the situation. "They have both had emotional struggles and bonded over that in the past," the source says, adding that Justin "feels bad" about his ex.
An E! source also reports that "Justin and Selena are not in touch but him hearing the news about Selena definitely upsets him. Justin also feels guilty. He wants to help everyone. He truly wants Selena to be happy, and it's upsetting to know she's battling health issues."
This news comes after a People report that Justin isn't over Selena: "This was his first great love and while he was young and traveling around the world as a superstar, he learned a great deal from her."
Selena Gomez was hospitalized earlier this month due to a low white blood cell count. A doctor explains EXCLUSIVELY how Selena’s lupus may have caused it.
Selena Gomez was hospitalized earlier this month for a low white blood cell count. While in the hospital, she suffered an “emotional breakdown” which resulted in her deciding to check into rehab. But the condition that landed her in the hospital in the first place could have been a sign that Selena was suffering from a lupus flare up.
“A low white blood count can be a little tricky to sort out in lupus,” Dr. Maureen McMahon, an associate clinical professor at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, tells HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “It can be low because of a lupus disease flare, or it can be low as a side effect of medications used to treat lupus and/or kidney transplants.”
