US President Donald Trump has sued two banks in a bid to stop them handing over his financial records to Congress. The lawsuit against Deutsche Bank and Capital One was filed after Democrat-led committees issued subpoenas for information on his finances. His three eldest children and the Trump Organisation joined the lawsuit, which argues there are no legitimate grounds for investigating his business affairs. Leading Democrats said they would not be deterred by the blocking attempt. A Deutsche Bank spokeswoman told the New York Times: "We remain committed to providing appropriate information to all authorized investigations" In 2017, the bank rejected requests by Democrats in the House of Representatives to provide details of the president's finances, citing privacy laws. That year it was also reported that special counsel Robert Mueller, who led the investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia, had ordered Deutsche Bank to provide records of Mr Trump's accounts.

President Donald Trump on Sunday floated the idea of extending his constitutionally limited time in office, complaining online that two years of his first White House term were “stollen” as a result of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. “I now support reparations — Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup,” Jerry Falwell Jr., a conservative religious leader and Trump ally, tweeted in a message reposted by the president. Trump echoed Falwell’s sentiment in a pair of tweets an hour later, writing online: “Despite the tremendous success that I have had as President, including perhaps the greatest ECONOMY and most successful first two years of any President in history, they have stollen two years of my (our) Presidency (Collusion Delusion) that we will never be able to get back.”

Members of President Donald Trump's inner circle are frustrated that the Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr., multiple sources tell CNN.
Those close to Trump are exasperated that Republican Sen. Richard Burr, in their minds, just handed Democrats a talking point. Multiple Republicans had coalesced around Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's talking point of "case closed" in recent days, but now Democrats can argue that even members of the President's own party don't agree that all Russia inquiries should end immediately.
Trump said Wednesday he was "very surprised" by the subpoena issued to his son, though it was issued more than two weeks ago, according to a source familiar with the matter.
"My son's a very good person, he works very hard," Trump said, adding that Trump Jr. offered his assistance during his 2016 campaign.

The Democrats have made a big mistake in their blanket opposition to the policies of President Donald Trump, especially on immigration, said Charlie Munger, the right-hand man of Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-A, BRK-B) CEO Warren Buffett. “Donald Trump is right on [immigration],” says Munger, 95, in his first interview after the Berkshire Hathaway Shareholders Meeting. “Democrats are committing suicide...they hate him so much that they're against him even when he's right.” “We should have way more control over our borders than we do,” adds Munger, a Republican. He added, “Very few people want unlimited immigration of a different culture.” The comments come amid reports of a Trump supporter, in attendance at a rally in Panama City, Florida, on Wednesday, who yelled that U.S. law enforcement should shoot immigrants to stop them from entering the United States. In response, Trump reportedly smiled and said, “Only in the Panhandle you can get away with that statement. Only in the Panhandle!”

North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr is not one to make a splash. So when the Senate Intelligence Committee, which Burr chairs, issued a subpoena to Donald Trump Jr., it didn’t leak out for a couple of weeks. When the news finally broke, Burr refused to talk about it. That didn’t stop the onslaught from fellow Republicans, including President Donald Trump who said he was “very surprised” by the move. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul called it “persecution of the president’s family.” Even Burr’s fellow North Carolina Republican, Sen. Thom Tillis, facing a primary challenge in 2020, tweeted “It’s time to move on.” Burr is not the usual target for Republican ire. He’s been in Washington since 1995, first in the House then the Senate, and is a reliable conservative vote. The mild-mannered senator is a far cry from the president’s Democratic critics, who have suggested Trump is "goading" impeachment by trying to overturn constitutional norms.
