Just yesterday, Selena Gomez returned with a new single called “Lose You to Love Me.” Tonight, she’s shared another surprise new song. Check out the Sophie Muller-directed video for “Look At Her Now” below. The song was co-written with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Ian Kirkpatrick. “I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings,” Gomez said in a statement. “Turning off the noise and living your life on your terms.” “I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings,” Gomez said in a statement. “Turning off the noise and living your life on your terms.” In the video, Gomez performs in flashing neon lights with a crew of backup dancers. At times, she handles the camera on her own, maneuvering it with her as she moves around the room. Like the “Lose You to Love Me” visual, this video was directed by Sophie Muller and shot on iPhone 11 Pro. Gomez’s most recent album was 2015’s Revival. She has released several one-off singles and videos since. More recently, she has attached her name to various Netflix projects as a producer, including the drama 13 Reasons Why and docuseries Living Undocumented.

After dropping the seemingly shady AF Lose You To Love Me yesterday, the 27-year-old has released Look At Her Now, an empowering bop that seems to celebrate where Selena is now in her life. She sings about ‘dodging bullets’ and losing trust in a former flame, before marking her single status with the lyrics: ‘She knows she’ll find love, only if she wants it.’ Selena lives with the autoimmune disease Lupus, which causes inflammation to the joints, skin and other organs, and in 2017, she was forced to undergo a kidney transplant due to the damage caused to her kidney. In September 2017, the Hands To Myself singer revealed she had a transplant earlier that year, with her friend Francia Raisa donating a kidney after discovering she was a match. Sharing a picture from her hospital bed, holding hands with Francia, Selena wrote on Instagram: ‘I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. ‘I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery. And finally, there aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. ‘She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made.’ Speaking on NBC’s Today, Selena said: ‘It really kind of life or death. My kidneys were just done. That was it and I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. ‘That was the day when I came home when I found out and she volunteered and did it.’ Journalist Savannah Guthrie asked: ‘You feel like Francia saved your life?’, with Selena replying: ‘Because she did. That’s it.’

Relationship with The Weeknd In January 2017, Selena and The Weeknd were seen canoodling outside Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Hollywood, and a few months later, they confirmed their relationship as they went public at the Met Gala. It is believed the singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, was one of Selena’s biggest supports throughout her kidney transplant, and in his song Call Out My Name, he sings: ‘I almost cut a piece of myself for your life’ – hinting he offered his own kidney. However, in October, the pair had split, as Selena began to be spotted with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. And things seemed to turn sour, if we go by The Weeknd’s lyrics on his album Dear Melancholy. On Call Out My Name, he sings: ‘Guess I was just another pit stop, ‘Til you made up your mind, You just wasted my time.’ And seemingly expressing regret over his split from Bella Hadid – who he got back together with after his and Selena’s break-up – he sings: ‘Wasted times I spent with someone else, She wasn’t even half of you.’ The Justin Bieber saga continues Selena and Justin were the ultimate teen couple when they began dating in 2010, and have had an on-off relationship ever since. After Selena’s split from The Weeknd, the star was pictured on numerous occasions with the Biebs, and in November 2017, it was claimed they were officially back together. Justin was apparently encouraged by his pastor Carl Lentz to get back together with his teenage sweetheart, and things seemed to be going swimmingly for the pair. Selena seemingly addresses her ex’s marriage in Lose You To Love Me, with the star singing: ‘In two months you replaced us, like it was easy, made me think I deserved it in the thick of healing.’ The former Disney star told E! News: ‘I wrote this song over a year ago. It’s obviously a very emotional song for me. ‘It’s interesting to see how far I’ve come from that point to now. Me sharing my story is exactly what I’ve always done. I can’t be unauthentic. I can’t pretend that I’m not going through something when it’s obvious that I had been.’

Gomez’s two songs “Look at Her Now” and “Lose You to Love Me,” are stark contrasts of one another. While they both have the same overall message of triumph, they approach it in extremely different ways. “Lose You to Love Me” focuses more on Gomez’s heartbreak and gets into the nitty-gritty of her relationship with Bieber. At one point, she belts ‘in two months you replaced us,” which is a straight-up call out to how quickly Bieber moved on to his now-wife Hailey Bieber. In “Look at Her Now,” Gomez focuses on the beauty of coming through all of that heartbreak. She sings “of course she was sad but now she’s glad she dodged a bullet.” The songs fit perfectly with each other as an insight into Gomez’s journey to healing. Why did Gomez release both songs? Releasing two songs back to back is not a common thing to do, but for Gomez, it was necessary. “This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” Gomez said of “Lose You to Love Me” in a statement obtained by People. “I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life.” http://instagram.com/p/B38NeQZjKPa “I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself,” she said.

Selena Gomez is on a full-fledge press tour to promote her new breakup songs "Lose You to Love Me" and "Look at Her Now." It started in Los Angeles last week, with a modest four outfits over two days. And now it's picking up steam in New York City, where Gomez has already worn three different outfits this Monday morning. “Think of going through a breakup, it sucks. [My cohost Tanya Rad and I] think that it’s worse, the two months lyric that you have in there,” Ryan Seacrest began on Thursday, October 24. “That part of us, would be worse than going through a breakup. Having to see someone move on so fast.” Gomez, 27, agreed. “Yeah, and that I think — you know, I’m really grateful, too, because I’ve experienced that a million times before,” the Disney alum explained. “That’s the unfortunate part about what I do. It’s all very real to me, and I’m sure it’s just entertainment for other people, but I think I had become numb to it.” The “Look at Her Now” songstress added it would be “stupid” not to acknowledge her feelings.
