The high-pitched shrieks of a packed Rose Bowl Stadium full of teenagers filled the night air in west Pasadena Thursday at the first of three back to back shows from boy band One Direction. The three-night stint kicked off the second half of the band’s “Where We Are” North America stadium tour. The band and the crowd were pumped to get things going, as were openers 5 Seconds of Summer and Jamie Scott. One Direction members repeatedly thanked the fans in the crowd for supporting them enough to earn a three night stay at the Rose Bowl. “We never thought we would get to play at a place like this,” One Direction’s Liam Payne said, eliciting screams from the audience. “Three nights at the Rose Bowl, are you joking?” Before the show, fans braved the heat to hang out with up and coming bands and the DJs from KIIS-FM at the “Picnic in the Park” pre-show festivities, which also included food and even a Rose Bowl Stadium step and repeat. The One Direction shows finish off the “summer of music” at the iconic stadium, which will have hosted seven concerts by summer’s end. Duos Beyonce and JAY Z and Rihanna and Eminem each played two nights at the stadium in August. Officials said they planned to judge the success of the concerts as a new permanent revenue stream to help pay for and flaunt the stadium’s recently completed multi-million dollar renovation. The city is also studying a multi-day music festival that could begin at the Rose Bowl as early as next summer. Harry Styles sings as One Direction performs their "Where We Are" tour at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Thursday September 11, 2014. Performers also included 5 Seconds of Summer and Jamie Scott.

Earlier this week, One Direction announced the title of their fourth album, Four, and released their new track, “Fireproof.” Along with this exciting news, 1D offered their fans a free download of the song only if they downloaded it on OneDirectionMusic.com and was within a 24-hour span. Next thing you know, the popular boy band broke a record. “Fireproof” became the most downloaded track within 24 hours! According to Columbia Records, the free song had 1.1 million downloads. “The support for the new album and Fireproof has been amazing! So so excited for you all to hear more! Loveeeee,” Louis Tomlinson tweeted earlier this week. Niall Horan also wrote, “The reaction to ‘fireproof’ has been unbelievable, really makes us excited for you to hear the rest of FOUR! Thank you xx.” One Direction already made Guinness World Record by having their first three albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Their Midnight Memories hit had 546,000 copies sold in their first week of sales in December 2013. They’ve also had a lot of chart-topping success with Up All Night and Take Me Home. One Direction has revealed the title and artwork for the pop group’s lead single from it’s upcoming album FOUR. One Direction's Niall Horan Turns 21: Who Wished Him A Happy Birthday? 1D’s Liam Payne tweeted on Sunday (Sept. 14) that the new single is called “Steal My Girl” and will be available on Sept. 29. The group also tweeted a photo of the single's artwork.

The One Direction boys having been living it up in Las Vegas for Niall Horan's 21st birthday. And it seems no one has been partying harder than Liam Payne, who was allegedly forced to visit the emergency room in the gambling-mad city after he injured his hand while break dancing. A source told MailOnline that the Best Song Ever singer 'got a bit carried away' as he was busting a move during his Irish band mate's celebrations on Sunday night. Despite his loyal followers going into meltdown on Twitter and demanding to know what had happened to his arm, the 21-year-old hunk's injury didn't appear to have ruined his evening since he was clutching a beer in his other hand. MailOnline reached out to the boys' representatives for comment, who insisted that Liam had injured his arm 'whilst training' but would give no further comment. Meanwhile, Niall was seen partying with friends and the boy band's hair stylist Lou Teasdale at nightclub hotspot XS. They were invited on the guest list to support JLS singer-turned-DJ Marvin Humes as he warmed up for superstar David Guetta. Lou shared a shot on Instagram of her taking a selfie on the dance floor with an over-exciting Niall striking a pose in the background. She simply captioned the image: 'Clebbin'. Marvin also shared a snapshot of him with Niall, adding: 'Very special night with this guy! Happy 21st Birthday @niallhoran we tore the place up! Boom!!!' And it seems several other celebrities encountered the birthday boy during his big night out. Joe Jonas tweeted: 'Always nice running into @niallofficial when he is on the toilet..'

Many frequent visitors to Vegas say that 48 hours is more than enough time for a trip to Sin City. Apparently, no one told that to One Direction, whose five members have been spending the better part of the past week shuttling to Vegas after a three-night residency at Los Angeles’ Rose Bowl. A long week of celebrating (Niall Horan turned 21 at midnight on Sept. 13) and mysterious injuries (Liam Payne sported a bandaged hand) culminated in 1D’s opening performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival’s second and final night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. As Payne himself said shortly after the band performed its newly minted signature hit “Story Of My Life,” “We’ve been here for too long. We lost all our money, it’s all gone. Harry’s not old enough to be here -- we need someone to escort him back.” Payne’s unexplained hand mishap aside, One Direction’s 15-minute set was an abbreviated preview of its top-grossing Where We Are summer stadium tour, complete with videos of the band globe-trotting the many markets they’ve traveled via green screen. They even kicked off with their perpetual tour-opener “Midnight Memories,” an appropriately stadium-sized guitar stomper, with miniature bursts of fireworks scattered throughout. And though the band announced the late September release of next single “Steal My Girl,” a preview of November’s Four album, and recently released another new track “Fireproof” for 24 hours, 1D kept things strictly to the hits. That included last summer’s rousing “Best Song Ever” and debut hit “What Makes You Beautiful,” which brought out the sentimentalist in Payne. “We’ve been together as a band now just over four years, and on behalf of all the boys, thank you, iHeart, for knowing all the words and singing along,” he said. Yes San Antonio, they're looking at you #WWATour

The brilliant images were taken by Angelina Castillo and first published on The Nashville Scene, and they perfectly captured all of those awesome fathers whose dedication to their daughters has led them to enduring their idea of hell. We can’t believe we didn’t think of this ourselves, but now some bright spark with slightly too much time on their hands has decided that a set of black and white photographs just aren’t enough to pay tribute, and they’ve turned the whole thing into a film extravaganza. Well, sort of. They’ve basically just stuck them all in a YouTube video, faded them all to black like a dodgy charity advert and set them to some well emosh music, but it’s brilliant and will probably have you cackling like a loony. Unlike this guy, who is not having a good time waiting for the 1D boys to make a mess upon his daughter’s innocence. Round of applause for all the Sad Dads at One Direction Concerts please, who've sacrificed their football evening at the pub to instead witness everyone around him screaming about how their ovaries are exploding. Whadda guy.
