Taylor Swift isn't the only one who gets to walk around NYC in "style." The "Shake It Off" singer showed off new gifts she received for cats Meredith and Olivia via Instagram on Friday, Dec. 26.
"Not that giving Christmas presents is a competition, but this year, my mom won," Swift, 25, captioned a pic. For the holidays, Swift's mom Andrea bought personalized cat carriers. Each were labeled with the felines full names: "Doctor Meredith Grey" from Grey's Anatomy and "Detective Olivia Benson" from Law & Order: SVU. PHOTOS: Taylor's celeb BFFs.
The traveling gear made Swift happy, but perhaps not her cats — Olivia in particular. In September, Swift explained why she sometimes tucks Olivia under her arm near her Tribeca apartment. "The kitten freaks out about being put in the cat carrier," she told Access Hollywood at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. "So I was just like, 'Okay, all right, we're gonna just do this!'"
The 1989 songstress, when not toting the kitties around the Big Apple, often gushes about Olivia and Meredith on social media. Earlier this week, she teased them while opening their snack bag.
Taylor Swift is known for her elegant style and it seems her cats are benefiting from her excellent taste too. Detective Olivia Benson and Doctor Meredith Grey rode in fancy personalized carriers as she departed her New York City home on Saturday. Meanwhile the 25-year-old popstar also looked sophisticated in a thigh skimming, double breasted black coat and Louboutin boots.
Taylor - who performed in Times Square on New Years Eve - takes her two pedigree furballs wherever she goes. The star received the blue and red custom carriers from her mother, Andrea Finlay, as Christmas presents. Delighted Taylor posted a picture of the gift to her Instagram account a week ago with the caption: 'Not that giving Christmas presents is a competition, but this year, my mom won.'
The Blank Space singer got her first cat Meredith, a Scottish Fold, on Halloween 2011 and named her after a character on Grey's Anatomy. She once said of the kitty: 'Meredith is one of the best cats. She doesn't leave fur or furballs and she is never aggressive or afraid of being around people.' Meredith was joined last year by another Scottish Fold, Olivia. Speaking on the Ellen show last year she said: 'I actually call her, um, a name that doesn't really make any sense. But her name is, in the house, is Dibbles because it suits her personality more than Olivia. She's like a scrappy little cat.'
It's the viral video that's got everyone talking. And now the hilarious 'dash cam' video of a policeman in uniform singing along to Taylor Swift's song Shake It Off has received the official seal of approval - from the singer herself. 'LOLOLOLOL THE SASS,' Taylor tweeted with a link to the video, shared with her nearly 60 million followers.
Taylor Swift has really gotten a handle on this whole winter-weather thing. She’s been expertly championing the statement coat, typically plaid and consistently colorful, all season long, and she has yet to repeat one. It’s really quite impressive. Who knew there were even so many plaid coats in the world? Where is she finding this never-ending stockpile of whimsically checked outerwear? We don’t have all the answers, but we do know her latest one comes from Gestuz, an obscure but adorable brand based in Denmark. It’s a good thing there are only a couple months left of cold temperatures, because she sure is searching far and wide at this point.
The thing about a great patterned jacket is that the rest of the outfit is simply ancillary. To run an errand accompanied by her cats, Swift wore a camel Brandy Melville skater skirt with burgundy rag & bone boots, both of which brought out the colors of the plaid. But, the coat was the clear star of the outfit — well, aside from Olivia Benson, anyway. Look ahead to snag her outfit, and look to ASPCA to adopt your own kitten (if you're ready for the responsibility, that is).
Taylor Swift was photographed outside her apartment in downtown Manhattan wearing a Brandy Melville mini, plaid Gestuz topper, rag & bone boots, and most importantly, a personalized cat carrier (with Olivia Benson inside!). Gestuz Nancy Jacket, $196.36, available at Gestuz; Brandy Melville Brya Corduroy Skirt, $26, available at Brandy Melville; rag & bone Kerr Boot, $300, available at rag & bone.
Maybe it's Taylor Swift's cool "Genius" sweatshirt. Maybe it's the fact that we can see a quick look at her glorious closet. Or maybe it's just the simple fact that T-Swift is actually blow-drying her cat ... but we just can't stop watching this video of Tay drying off her feline gal pal Olivia Benson with her mint green blow-dryer.
Taylor posted the video (titled "catastrophe") to her Facebook, taken by her human BFF Abigail, of Taylor blow-drying Olivia. In the video, Taylor says, "She jumped in the bathtub." She followed up with a few coments to the cat, "You're really embarrassed aren't you? ... Yup."
What we really love about this video of Taylor Swift following proper cat-in-bathtub procedure is the glimpse it provides of her amazing closet. Just look at those racks on racks on racks of amazingly organized garments. Back to the cat, though. Here's a little ditty we wrote for Taylor Swift to sing to Olivia Benson while she dries it off, dries it off (ooo ooo ooo ooooo). Please sing it to yourself to the tune of "Shake It Off."
