Ariana Grande could probably use a nap. She just opened the MTV Video Music Awards, dropped her sophomore album, My Everything (out Aug. 25), and starred in the new video for her Jessie J and Nicki Minaj collaboration, “Bang Bang” — all in the span of two days.
Did you and Iggy Azalea cause any problems on the set of the “Problem” video? Ariana Grande: There was no mischief or pranking, but it was definitely a fun experience. She’s a lot taller — I had to stand on a box for our shots together. I [was] like, “I need a ladder over here.”
You both have signature pony tails, it must have been dangerous on set with all that whipping around. Absolutely. There was lots of hair involved.
So what are you breaking free from in “Break Free”? It is a great breakup song, but for me, personally, I didn’t have a boy to sing it about because I’m not breaking up with anybody. I sang it about my personal things that are holding me back, my fears, certain negativities in my life that were holding me back. Things I was afraid of like, ego and fear and all of that. I wanted to break free from all that I felt like was making me enjoy my life a little less.
It shows off your dance-diva side. What are your go-to moves in the club? It’s hard to describe it. There’s a lot of strutting to the beat. There’s a lot of sitting down and leg-kicking and voguing and posing and hair flipping involved.
Please describe the emoji that best represent you. There’s a brunette, severed head with the driest expression of all time on her face, and I really like that one. I feel like I relate to it. After that, I put the thinking bubble emoji followed by the boy emoji so it’s girl-thinking-of-boy. I really like that combination. There’s a navy blue square with stars in it, and it’s supposed to look like the universe. I really like that one as well.
Important question: When you go Starbucks, do you always order a grande size? No, sometimes I get that venti, you know? Some days that’s what you need in your life.
So you’re a big coffee drinker? Yeah, I love soy lattes. Obviously I don’t have dairy because I’m a vegan, but they taste out of this world to me.
One reason people you love your Broadway covers of rap songs is they like hearing you swear. Do you curse a lot? I absolutely do. I’m Italian! I wish I could less. But I don’t know why people are so shocked by me. I guess it’s because of the character I played so long being such a goody two-shoes. But I also think that people have a misrepresentation of me as a person because I’m friendly and I like to meet people and I like to talk to people and make people laugh. Sometimes people can confuse my niceness for weakness in a way — or ditziness or stupidity. But it doesn’t go hand-in-hand in that way, you know what I mean?
Yeah. What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Probably that. When people are shocked when they see me curse, I wish they knew my sense of humor. I have the sense of humor of a 14-year-old boy. It’s very crude. When I was 7 years old, my mom took me to see Rocky Horror. That’s just how my family is. We’re just this Italian family that loves slightly raunchy humor. Everyone sees Frankie on Big Brother, they get the idea.

Ariana Grande had a great night at the MTV Video Music Awards as she not only opened the whole show, but also managed to scoop an award for her hit, Problem. But did it go without a hitch? The dimpled star, who walked the red carpet with her grandmother, was backstage with her rumoured boyfriend Big Sean, getting applauded by backstage crew, when she hit the deck. Following her performance with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj of their hit track, Bang, Bang, Ariana was caught on video taking a little tumble in her skyscraper heels. With barely a second to register, the 21-year-old was helped back to her feet by her Problem collaborator, Big Sean - and her dimples barely faded. Earlier this month, it was reported that Ariana had moved on from her split with Jai Brooks and that she had begun dating her Problem pal Big Sean. The couple were working on the hit track when the grew close, according to E! News, and they are now dating. "They have been friends since they made the song together. They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close.

Being compared to Mariah Carey? One less problem! Since she broke out as a recording artist with the 2013 song "The Way," former Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande has gotten endless musical comparisons to similarly multi-octaved vocalist Mariah Carey. "Mariah has been a huge influence on me since I was a little girl," the new Wat-Aah! water bottle spokeswoman exclusively tells Us Weekly. "I've even done a cover of one of her songs. I don't think there are any negatives to being compared to one of the greatest vocalists of all time. It's honestly a great honor." Though she's now being compared to music greats, Grande isn't the only famous member of her family. Her older half-brother Frankie Grande was recently a contestant on season 16 of Big Brother, and Ariana live tweeted the reality series' episodes. Contestant Derrick Levasseur went on to win the season. "I'm his biggest fan, and I know how much it meant for him to be able to be on one of his favorite shows," she tells Us. "But there's also definitely been times I've wanted to jump through the screen and just tell him 'Do this instead!' or 'Backdoor him!'"

Revealed on the Alan Carr show, which Grande Latte appeared on last night, Ari apparently once got kicked out* of an old people's home for singing about death. SCANDAL. Defending the definitely-not-hilarious story to Alan, Grande Latte explained that although they didn't actually get kicked out, there *was* a little bit of an incident once. Awks:"No! Here’s the actually story – when I was younger, my friends and I started a group called ‘Kids Who Care’ and we sang at different country clubs in Florida where we all grew up, and we would raise money for different organisations and charities, and we would donate the money to various causes. "But one time, we did a performance which was at an old age home – we didn’t get kicked out, but we had this weird moment when we were singing – you know ‘You Are What You Own’, from 'Rent'? – you get to the after the bridge part, and the lyrics change from ‘you’re living in America’ to ‘you’re dying in America’, and there’s a bunch of 90 year olds, and we had this moment where we all sort of looked at each other like ‘oh s**t’ [sings] ‘you’re dying in America’. "We’re like ‘thank god they can’t hear us, this is terrible!’ but it was fine, they were just like ‘oh look, cute young people, singing’." Ari was on the show along with Hugh Grant (DILF), Noel Fielding, Davina McCall and Dr Christian Jessen, rocking up in a super cute gold skirt and black crop top combo. Jel.

It's official: Ariana Grande and Big Sean are a couple! Despite plenty of evidence that the twosome are more than just friends, the 21-year-old singer has finally confirmed her relationship status with the famous rapper. "Yes," Grande replied when asked by Telegraph magazine if it's true she's dating Big Sean. "He is one of the most amazing men in the world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother."
Reports that the talented performers were an item started back in August when the couple finished working on several songs together including "Problem" and "Best Mistake." "They have been friends since they made the song together," a source told E! News when the rumors first started. "They have been spending more time together and recently have been getting very close. They are both doing great."
"I mean, I guess, curiosity man, it'll kill you," she told Ryan Seacrest just days after the footage surfaced. "I don't know what to say, Ryan. Why are you doing this to me?" Now that they're super official, fans can expect a lot more compliments and romance from the twosome. "That Ariana is very, very special. She's very special to me," Big Sean recently shared during a visit to On Air with Ryan Seacrest. "Everything she has going on is good with her, everything I have going on is good with me, everything between me and her is good, and I'm just going to leave it at that."
