MOSCOW, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Russian newspaper RBC reported on Wednesday that star figure skater Kamila Valieva had tested positive for Trimetazidine, a drug used to treat angina, at the Beijing Olympics.
The newspaper did not identify its sources.
The news broke late at night in Beijing. Reuters attempted to reach the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) chef de mission for comment but his phone was not answering.
The Russian Olympic Committee earlier declined to comment on reports that Valieva, 15, a member of the winning Russian ensemble in the figure skating team event on Monday, had returned a positive test.
Trimetazidine is listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) list of metabolic modulators and is prohibited both in and out of competition.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) will not comment on the situation with the doping test of the Russian figure skater Kamila Vilieva. This was announced to TASS in the press service of WADA.
Earlier, the Inside the Games portal suggested that the awards ceremony for the figure skaters following the team tournament at the Olympics did not take place due to a problem with doping testing for a Russian woman.
On Tuesday, the International Olympic Committee canceled the awards ceremony for figure skaters following the team tournament at the Beijing Games, citing urgent legal circumstances that needed to be clarified with the International Skating Union.
"WADA does not comment on this. For information, please contact the organizers of the figure skating tournament," the message says.
On Wednesday, the portal Inside the Games suggested that Valieva's doping testing problems could be the reason for the delay in the awards ceremony. According to the portal, a positive doping test could have been recorded before the Olympics - in December 2021. The Guardian claims that the substance found in an unnamed skater cannot directly affect the improvement in performance.
Inside the Games clarifies that the legal problems are related to the age of the 15-year-old Russian woman. According to World Anti-Doping Agency rules, Valieva is a "protected person" because she was under 16 at the time of the alleged anti-doping violation and cannot be found guilty.
The Russian national figure skating team won the team tournament. Olympic medals were won by Kamila Valieva, Mark Kondratyuk, Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, who compete in sports couples, as well as dancers Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov. Team USA came in second and Japan ranked third.
