The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took to Instagram to post a video from the event on their Kensington Royal account. The clip shows William and Kate arriving and greeting other guests at the London Palladium in November. http://instagram.com/p/B547yCtF6HM They captioned video: “Our followers in the UK can watch the 2019 Royal Variety Performance on @itv on Tuesday 10th December at 7.30pm. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended this year’s performance at the London Palladium. “The Royal Variety Performance is held in aid of the Royal Variety Charity, of which Her Majesty The Queen is Patron. “Money raised from the show is helping hundreds of entertainers throughout the UK who need help and assistance as a result of old age, ill-health, or hard times.” Kate stunned in a black lace gown by Alexander McQueen for the glittering event. The evening was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan who joked William and Kate were on a “date night” as they watched from the royal box. The Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Rebecca English reported that Kate said Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one, wanted to come but she told them “not on a school night”.

Mr Ranganathan was co-hosting the popular pre-Christmas TV event alongside fellow comedian Rob Beckett at the London Palladium. The show was filmed at the end of November and was aired on Tuesday night on ITV. Mr Ranganathan, who has his own show on the BBC, took aim at Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis during one of his presentations He joked: “Like me you’re blessed with three kids. “I imagine every morning they come running into your bedroom and you look at their beautiful faces and say, 'I regret this'." Kate and William were filmed laughing out loud, and appeared to take it all in their stride. Fellow comedian Mr Beckett then got in on the act, joking about William and Kate having to find a babysitter. He said: “Thank you for coming out tonight. You’re on date night. That's exciting. “You got the babysitter until midnight or 1am? It's worth that extra 20 quid." However, the jokes backfired with viewers, who praised the royal couple for their good humour, while criticising the presenters and show.
