Queen Elizabeth may now be the dictionary definition of the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words," in what seems like a revealing and biting Xmas address to her people. The Queen always gives a Christmas speech behind a table filled with pics of the royals. And, there they were -- William, Kate, the kids, Philip .... but wait, something's missing. There were no pics of Andrew, which you might understand given the stories that have surfaced about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. But then ... there are no pics of Prince Harry, Meghan or baby Archie. It's especially puzzling since this is Archie's first year as a royal or on Earth. As you know, they're spending Xmas in Canada with Meghan's mom, thousands of miles from Buckingham Palace ... and we're guessing that didn't please the Queen.

The Queen will use her Christmas Day message to acknowledge that 2019 has been "quite bumpy". She will say the path is never "smooth" but "small steps" can heal divisions. It comes after a year of intense political debate over Brexit, as well as a number of personal events affecting the Royal Family. Her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, 98, has left hospital after four nights of treatment for a "pre-existing condition". Buckingham Palace said the duke had gone to the King Edward VII's hospital on his doctor's advice for "observation and treatment". Prince Charles told reporters on Monday that hospital staff had looked after his father "very well". In January, the Duke of Edinburgh was involved in a car crash while driving near the Queen's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. He escaped uninjured, but two women required hospital treatment. In September, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly revealed their struggles under the media spotlight during their tour of southern Africa.

The Queen, in her annual speech, has said "small steps" and not giant leaps bring about the most lasting change.

Queen Elizabeth gave her annual Christmas Day queen’s speech yesterday, preaching a message of reconciliation and unity in the wake of the UK’s years-long debate over Brexit — and possibly hinting at her own views about Brexit with her fashion choices, if internet sleuths are to be believed. The annual Christmas speech is a traditional address delivered by the monarch. In this year’s edition, prerecorded at Buckingham Palace and broadcast nationwide, Queen Elizabeth summarized 2019 as “quite bumpy.” She highlighted the birth of her eighth grandchild and also talked about her husband, 98-year-old Prince Phillip, who earlier this week was released from the hospital where he spent four days for “observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition.” Reflecting on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings celebrated this year, the queen noted “those who had formerly been sworn enemies came together in friendly commemorations. Such reconciliation seldom happens overnight.” She went on: “It takes patience and time to rebuild trust, and progress often comes through small steps,” seemingly alluding to the deep divisions brought about by the Brexit referendum, subsequent debate, and two snap elections. The speech came in the wake of recent parliamentary elections, in which the country’s pro-Brexit Conservative party achieved its largest majority since 1987. With control of the legislature, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has promised to leave the EU once and for all by January 31 next year. The queen did not explicitly state her views on whether the UK should leave the EU. But that did not stop some commentators online from putting forward their interpretations of the queen’s fashion choices as coded messages about Brexit. It’s not the first time the internet has devoted its forensic talents to decoding the queen’s appearance — and, just as in previous times, this year’s decoders aren’t especially persuasive.

The Royal Family were out in force yesterday as they joined Queen Elizabeth II for the Christmas Day church service in Sandringham. The 11am service at St Mary’s Magdalene is something of a royal tradition and precedes the royals heading back to Sandringham House for Christmas lunch. This year the Queen bent the rules for Prince Andrew’s daughter Princess Beatrice, 31, who attended with her Italian husband-to-be Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Traditionally only royal spouses are invited to the get together at Sandringham for Christmas, however, this royal rule was broken for Edoardo, 36. The Princess of York and the property tycoon are due to marry next year and many expect a June wedding is on the cards. The couple announced their engagement in October to the delight of royal fans. While an official date for the royal wedding is yet to be announced the Queen is expected to confirm in January.
