Taylor Swift is your new quarantine DJ. Sirius XM announced that the pop star will be hosting Hits 1 n Chill, the first of Sirius XM’s Home DJ series, starting on Friday, April 3rd at 12:00 p.m. ET on Sirius XM Hits 1.
“We love to connect fans with their favorite artists and our Home DJ series will bring some of the biggest names in music into our homes as people look for ways to be entertained,” president and CCO of Sirius XM Scott Greenstein said. “Taylor Swift will lead the way and will be followed by many stars on Hits 1 in the days ahead as they play their favorite music for the channel’s faithful national audience and new listeners, too. Our new Stream Free option opens up our channels to anybody who wants some diversion and great music.”
The Home DJ series will feature Swift and other artists sharing their most requested hits as well as their favorite music. Upcoming hosts for Hits 1 n Chill include Niall Horan, Camila Cabello, Sia, 5 Seconds of Summer, Diplo, Kelsea Ballerini, Charlie Puth, Pete Wentz and more.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, more and more artists and radio programmers are turning to online DJ sessions that allow fans to shelter in place and maintain social distancing while still being able to connect to their favorite artists. For instance, Diplo has begun a nightly DJ series from his living room, and Sirius XM previously broadcast sets from DJs who were scheduled to perform at this year’s Ultra Music Festival.

From Conan Gray to Harry Styles, Taylor Swift is here to share all her recent favorite music as she moonlights as a DJ for SiriusXM.
Taylor took over Sirius XM Hits 1 on April 3 to talk about what she's doing while self-isolating and share a set of songs from other artists that she's enjoying right now. "It's safe to say we are living through unprecedented times right now," Taylor said at the beginning of the radio station's Hits 1 'n Chill program. She went on to say she's been doing a lot of cooking, reading, and watching movies (including Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window) but has also been online figuring out how to help — she's recently been donating to out-of-work fans and Nashville businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, she's sharing songs for fans to listen to. Her Hits 1 set kicked off with a shoutout to mutual fan Conan Gray's "Maniac," from his new album, about which Taylor said "you gotta check out.... It's phenomenal." She name-checked Conan again later on, urging fans to check out his "imaginative" new album, Kid Krow, and his song "Wish You Were Sober."
The set also included a throwback to Taylor's former love interest: Harry Styles. Though she didn't comment on the choice, she did play his most recent song, "Adore You," which, taste. It wasn't the only allusion to dramas past. Right after Harry, Taylor played Justin Bieber's new track, "Intentions" — an interesting move considering his relationship to Scooter Braun and his tumultuous past with Selena Gomez, one of Taylor's best friends. Fans had, ahem, thoughts on that choice.

Taylor Swift was "hopefully keeping you company during your self-isolation and quarantine time" while she acted as a DJ from home for SiriusXM's Hits 1 n chill show on Friday (April 3). The singer, who was the first in a series of artists to have their own spin on the program airing on SiriusXM radio (channel 2) and on the SiriusXM app, curated a playlist of tracks to play -- and in between songs spoke of how she's spending her time during the coronavirus quarantine. "During this time, I know that a lot of my friends and I have been doing a sort of weekly family FaceTime, which is always hilarious," Swift said. "I think it’s really important that we all stay connected because, you know, isolation doesn’t have to be an all-encompassing thing. You know, we may be all isolated physically, but we can still keep in touch with people, we can still play games with our friends and families on our phones --that is one of the great things about modern technology. So I hope you guys are doing a lot of self-care in terms of staying connected to the people that remind you of home even if the situation is strange and really confusing at this moment." At another point, she shared what's been on her watch list recently: "A lot of people have been watching lots and lots of TV in this time of quarantine. I have actually been going back and watching old films that I hadn’t seen before. I went and watched, I actually hadn’t seen Rear Window, and if you haven’t seen that film go check it out. It’s got Grace Kelly, it’s phenomenal, it’s Hitchcock. So, yeah, I think that we can actually take this opportunity to not only just watch really cool guilty pleasure shows that are current, but we can go back and kind of educate ourselves on films that were great in the past and still are.” “I've been doing a lot of cooking, a lot of reading, a lot of watching films that I've never seen before, but mostly I’ve been online trying to figure out how to help others, and just constantly in awe of our first responders and our emergency workers and our healthcare professionals who are putting themselves in danger every single day that they go to work. So shout out to everyone who works in a medical profession, everybody who’s out there helping," she said.
