Britain’s Got Talent
The 2020 edition of Simon Cowell’s variety talent show has been beset with problems: first, an underwater magic trick threatened to go horribly wrong during a live audition in Manchester in February; and now with the nation in coronavirus lockdown, the live elimination rounds have been indefinitely delayed. Yet, the (pre-filmed) shows must go on, and so Simon, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams all return to try to take our minds off the chaos with their dose of reality TV competition.
Amanda Holden, 49, returned this evening for this year’s Britain’s Got Talent alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, 60, David Walliams, 48, and Alesha Dixon, 41. With the auditions underway, a whole manner of variety acts showcased what they had to offer, from singers to dancers and magic acts. However, it seems the winner has already been found as the judge dropped a huge revelation just minutes into the ITV premiere.
The winner of the series will actually be determined later this year when the live shows finally air due to the current coronavirus outbreak.
It should also be known the judges don’t actually have a hand in who is crowned champion, with the viewing public voting for who should walk away with the £250,000 cash prize and a spot on the coveted Royal Variety Show.
Though one of the first acts from tonight’s episode left the judges on their feet and in awe of what the performers were able to do.
With the final already in her sights, Amanda may have got a little over-excited as she pinned them as the victors.
Taking to the stage to kick start the auditions were St Anne’s Gospel Choir from London, a group made up of 81 girls from the school, aged between 11-35.
Performing a rendition of chart-topper Emeli Sandé’s Shine, they truly wowed the audience and the judges alike with their sensational vocals.
This lead to a standing ovation from all four panellists and beginning the feedback, Alesha said: “I love nothing more than young people standing up there doing something really positive and I felt that energy from every single one of you."
David added: “You did yourselves incredibly proud today, well done,” before Amanda dropped the winner bombshell.
