Lady Gaga released the trippy lyric video for her Blackpink collaboration "Sour Candy" on Tuesday (June 16), and the animated clip is a trip into a digital playground of the imagination. With a floating dialog box containing the lyrics in English and Korean -- along with pictures of which group member is singing -- the clip consists of a series of glowing futuristic lion fish-like blobs floating in space. Gaga's is, of course, the dominant pink blob, zooming through a round, candy-shaped universe filled with licorice-like forests and other colorful swirls. The song appears on Gaga's Chromatica album, which gave the singer her sixth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 274,000 equivalent units in the U.S. for the week ending June 4.

Lady Gaga and Blackpink put you in a faux-VR headset in the new lyric video for “Sour Candy,” their collaboration from Gaga’s latest album Chromatica.
Set in a candy-coated and surreal digital landscape, the lyric video places the viewer inside a virtual-reality headset, with lyrics from Lady Gaga and the Blackpink singers flashing, Matrix-style, across the upper left of the screen. As the song goes on, a group of floating abstract creatures made of crystals approach the screen and start attacking you. Is it weird? Yes. Would it make a great MMORPG? Also yes.
Even though a Chromatica video game doesn’t exist (yet), Gaga’s online store has released exclusive “Sour Candy”-themed merch in conjunction with the video. (Granted, there is some stellar unofficial Chromatica merch out there, too.)
Chromatica was released on May 29th, after being delayed for over a month due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think that the beginning of the album really symbolizes, for me, what I would call the beginning of my journey to healing,” Gaga said of the album in a recent Zane Lowe interview, “and what I would hope would be an inspiration for people that are in need of healing through happiness, through dance.”

BLACKPINK is now officially the female artist with the most subscribers on YouTube! On July 24, YG Entertainment announced that as of 8 a.m. KST, BLACKPINK had surpassed 42,300,000 subscribers on their official YouTube channel. With this latest figure, the group has now surged past Ariana Grande (whose own YouTube channel currently has over 42,200,000 subscribers), Taylor Swift (who has over 38,500,000 subscribers), and Katy Perry (who has over 37,700,000 subscribers) to become the female musician with the highest number of subscribers on the platform. YG Entertainment commented, “YouTube channel subscribers are one of the measures that objectively indicate an artist’s popularity and fame. In an age that is flooded with new content everyday, subscriptions to channel are often a result of a fandom’s loyalty and consistent interest, in addition to anticipation for [an artist’s] future content. Considering that YouTube plays a key role in effecting changes in the global music market, BLACKPINK’s new record is an extremely important indicator.” Congratulations to BLACKPINK on their impressive new achievement!

Lady Gaga just shared a photo of her new mermaid-inspired hair color on Instagram. Dubbed "Suzie’s Ocean Blonde," Gaga modeled the dreamy pastel green look in a new underwear selfie taken in bed. The A Star Is Born performer is no stranger to dying her hair. http://instagram.com/p/CD4HGQnMvMc Lady Gaga is channeling a very sexy mermaid in quarantine. The superstar has previously rocked bright pink hair, a multi-colored unicorn wig, and matched her hair to her powder-blue gown at the 2019 Golden Globes. Trying out something a little different for 2020, Gaga opted for a sea-themed shade with an extra special meaning behind it. "Hello Merpeople," Lady Gaga wrote on Instagram, while posting a selfie of her new hair style. "Rocking color by @fredericaspiras named after his mother who just passed... Suzie’s Ocean Blonde. I love you Freddie 💕💕 this was extra special glamour with love 💕 🌊." http://instagram.com/p/CDo_QT4MoX_ This marks Lady Gaga's first major hair change in months, although the singer has snapped herself wearing a bright pink wig on several occasions. She recently shared a makeup-free selfie and wrote, "I am so grateful and so blessed to have 9 #VMAs nominations this year for my album Chromatica, for "Rain On Me," and other performances I’ve given. This is such a difficult time for people all over the world, I really honor how lucky I am to have a day like today. I hope you all will celebrate yourselves in this moment, everyone should be nominated for an award right now. For bravery, for courage, for the strong human spirit. God bless you and I love you thank you for this gift today. 😭❤️."
