Yuka Nagai notched her second podium finish of the season with a fine free skate in the Junior Grand Prix at Morikoro Park Skating Rink on Saturday night. The Tokyo native vaulted from fifth place after the short program to finish second behind Russia’s Serafima Sakhanovich. Sakhanovich landed seven triple jumps and posted a total of 177.69 to win by more than 15 points over Nagai, who tallied 161.65. Kazahkstan’s Elizabet Turzynbaeva, who is coached by Brian Orser, was third on 159.38. Nagai, who also came in second at the season-opening JGP in Slovenia last month, said she felt good before taking the ice to “Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso.” “I had a good practice this morning,” she stated. “When I practice well, it makes me fight harder.” Nagai, who hit six triple jumps, remained calm after singling her planned opening triple lutz/triple toe loop combination jump. The two second-place showings give Nagai a very good chance of qualifying for the JGP Final in Barcelona, Spain, in December. “It would be a great experience for me to take part in the Junior Grand Prix Final,” Nagai commented.

The "Ljubljana Cup", the second stage of qualifying for the Junior Grand Prix circuit, has devoted even more in the firmament of the figure skating star Serafima Sakhanovich. The fourteen-year-old Russian, after literally impressed the experts by the short program, was repeated in the longer segment of the race crumbling personal record and not going away from the world record in the junior competitions of the first level of ownership of compatriot Elena Radionova ( World Sofia, 127.39 in the free program, 194.29 total ). In any case, the 191.96 recorded in the Slovenian capital is the highest score ever in an event of the Junior Grand Prix, the final stage of qualifying or not makes no difference ( for the sake of information, it is important to remember that the ISU is not properly recognize the terminology "world record", but prefers to speak of "all time best performance" ) The pupil of Ethers Tutberidze, absent as committed at home with the tests of the senior skaters, has performed flawless seven triples, four of which, including lutz, in the second half of the music, and, in absolute fluency, has reached the maximum level at the disposal of steps and spins. Technical aspect aside, the interpretation of " Oblivion "by Astor Piazzolla and" I Love You I Hate You "by Raul di Blasio proved to be excellent and far superior to what one might normally expects from a girl who is not yet fifteen. It should be noted as the triple lutz, jump element where improvements compared to the past were obvious, however, continues to leave some doubts. Today, the panel, unlike what happened in the short-program, has as underscored by the exclamation point of order a doubt about the fact that the wire was properly outside at the ex . Not surprisingly, the technical staff who has set up the free program Sakhanovich, decided to include only a triple lutz, which is why it is not excluded that some of the more quoted opponents can present programs with a technical score of the upper base. Moreover, in the presence of a panel extremely severe, the location of the triple lutz in the second half of the music could be a strategic move questionable as the triple flip would provide more guarantees ( in this regard, please note that the value of the jumps performed in the second half of the program is increased by one-tenth ). It's obvious as in the case of subtleties, but it is not excluded that even small details can have their weight in the presence of opposing more qualified than those encountered in Ljubljana. The second place was deservedly won by the Japanese Yuka Nagai (164.42), incredibly advanced compared to last season to the point of touching up the personal record of almost thirty lengths. Fifteen of Tokyo, second only to Sakhanovich in any item in the score, performed a free program with two double axel and seven triple jumps, including a remarkable combination triple lutz / triple toe loop opening. The only problems for the emerging Japanese, took to the track to the tune of Olympic memory "Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso", were represented by hand from landing in the land of triple flip and triple Rittberger, however, limiting the rotation.

Serafima Sakhanovich, the winner of the "Ljubljana Cup", the second leg of the ISU Junior Grand Prix, will not take part, as originally planned, the stage of Tallinn, but will race a week earlier in Aichi in Japan. The news was disclosed yesterday by the same skater and upheld by the international federation. In essence, the pupil of Ethers Tutberidze replace the Japanese leg Anastasia Kolomiets, now referred to as reserves, while it is not yet known what his compatriot will occupy the place left vacant in Estonia. The motivation of the replacement was not disclosed, but, beyond the physical problems, it is likely that this is a strategic move as the intention of the Russian Federation is to leave no stone unturned to win each of the seven qualifying stages and to bring five girls to the final in Barcelona. In this regard, it should be noted that in the past season four girls Russian reached the final act , while the victories in the qualifying stages were four out of seven opportunities. The presence of Sakhanovich in Aichi will be crucial to take points to possible claimants to the final. The camp participants of the fourth stage of the Junior Grand Prix promises of quality, however. In addition to the junior world vice-champion, will be the game the Japanese Yuka Nagai, second in Ljubljana, Kaori Sakamoto and Yuhana Yokoi, the Korean Da Bin Choi, now the former Russian Kazakh Elizaveta Turzynbaeva, the Finnish Jenni Saarinen, the American Bradie Tennell The Israeli school North American Net Schreiber, the promising Latvian Diana Nikitina and the second line Russian Diana Pervushkina. Now, it remains to see what will be the next choice of the Russian Federation, although, except for injuries, there seems to be too much room for the imagination. In the fifth stage, held in Tallinn, will feature the defending champion Maria Sotskova, which likely will be accompanied by a second tier skater. In the penultimate round of Dresden should be Proklova Alexandra and Elizaveta Yushchenko, but, barring unforeseen circumstances, and Proklova Sotskova will be designated for the last act of Zagreb. In this context, it is possible that, depending on the rank of each, some change can happen in the race. It should not be also forgotten that Sotskova and Proklova, due to injuries of varying severity, are reported in delay condition.
