Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun have a big day in store Sunday ... Valentine's Day, because they made it clear Friday night -- they're a couple.
They hit up BOA Steakhouse in WeHo for Mod Sun's album release party for "Internet Killed the Rock Star." It's his 4th album and Avril's featured in one of the songs -- "Flames."
They were hand-in-hand as they had their temps checked at the door, before walking in. Two things seem clear -- they're a couple, and they both take COVID super seriously. Both Avril and Mod Sun are masked up and, as they hop in their SUV after dinner, they immediately hit the hand sanitizer pump.
Before leaving, Mod Sun drops $100 on roses ... a little pre-Valentine's Day celebration.
It's interesting ... a dude in an "Internet Killed the Rock Star" shirt is filming, so maybe Avril and Mod Sun are going to the next level ... a reality show?!??
It's not complicated: Mod Sun and Avril Lavigne are very much a couple.
The two were photographed holding hands as they entered West Hollywood steakhouse BOA on Feb. 12, where Mod Sun—whose real name is Derek Smith—was celebrating the release of his new album Internet Killed the Rockstar. The duo wore matching face masks with the name of the album written on them to the party. According to TMZ, the rapper also picked up $100 worth of flowers for the "Sk8r Boi" artist two days ahead of Valentine's Day.
Avril wasn't just celebrating her boyfriend's music: Avril herself is featured on the song "Flames."
It's not just his album that Mod Sun was repping on Friday: The "I Remember Way Too Much" artist also showed off his tattoo of Avril's name on the back of his neck.
In addition to celebrating Mod Sun's fourth album, Avril made sure to post about the new release on her Instagram Story. On Feb. 12, she shared the album art along with the caption, "Congratulations @modsun Internet Killed the Rockstar album out today!"
A source told Entertainment Tonight, "Working together has brought them closer and Avril has a history of falling for people that she works with. She falls in love with them for their musical creativity and expression. Her working relationships often turn romantic."
Avril was previously married to Deryck Whibley of the band Sum-41 from 2006 to 2010, as well as Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, who she separated from in 2015. Prior to Mod Sun, she dated entrepreneur Phillip Sarofim for a year before splitting in November 2019.
It's official! Avril Lavigne, 36, and Mod Sun, 33, seal their relationship with a kiss on Valentine's Day as they enjoy a romantic outing in Malibu following weeks of speculation the pair were an item
Their take on the holiday's signature colors, Avril strolled out of his Cadillac convertible in a pair of hot pink jeans that she paired with black Doc Martens and a hoodie with purple flames.
The Karma singer sported maroon sweatpants and a white zip up, as his neon green mohawk was out in full force.
The pair have been musically collaborating for months, seeming to fall for each other throughout the process.
Every now and then, The Late Late Show shares a web-exclusive segment called “Tweet Dreams,” in which a guest from a recent episode reads and responds to a series of tweets of people describing dreams they had about the celebrity. The show shared a new installment in the series today, and this time, it’s Phoebe Bridgers’ turn. It was a wild time that involved Bridgers doing a spoken word Avril Lavigne cover.
One of the tweets read, “I dreamt I was a support act for [Bridgers] – I did a spoken word recital of avril lavigne’s ‘complicated’. It did not go down well, but phoebe loved it.” Bridgers responded, “That is exactly what would happen. I love that song.” Then, with jazz bass edited in, Bridgers recited some of the song’s lyrics in a disjointed, poetic rhythm while waving her hands around for emphasis: “I see the way you’re acting like somebody else, makes me frustrated.” She then spoke about her relationship with that song, saying, “I can never get it out of my head: It sounds like she’s saying “fakiss” in that song, which I don’t think is a word. But like, ‘Never gonna find you fakiss.’ So, I need some intel on what word that is.”
Bridgers had some other fun reactions as well, including one to one of Bridgers’ own tweets, so check out the video above.
