Robert Kennedy Jr. (70), who ran as an independent candidate for the US presidential election in November, will announce his vice presidential candidate on the 26th.
A member of a prominent family whose uncle is former President Kennedy. Her father, former Attorney General Robert Kennedy, ran for president in 1968, but was assassinated in Los Angeles while campaigning in June during the Democratic Party nomination race.
Kennedy, a lawyer who has been involved in environmental protection and anti-vaccination activities, told the New York Times that he took the two men's deaths as "a risk in politics, just like going to war." I felt the pressure to follow in his footsteps," he recalled.
Mr. Kennedy, who believes in ``protecting the interests of the middle class'' from big industry and public power, initially proposed running for the Democratic Party's nomination, but in October last year he announced that he would run as an independent candidate. Opinion polls show that he maintains an approval rating of around 10%, second only to Trump and Biden. A FOX News survey put the figure at 13%.

Reaction from the White House, Ukraine and the UN John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the White House National Security Council, said that US authorities have no information about Ukraine’s involvement in the incident at Crocus City Hall.
“There is currently no evidence that Ukraine or Ukrainians are involved in the shooting. I would disabuse you of any connection with Ukraine,” Kirby said at a briefing (quoted by AFP).
He also noted that Washington did not know in advance about the planned shooting.
In early March, the American Embassy in Moscow warned of the threat of terrorist attacks in the capital.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in turn, said that if Washington has any information on the terrorist attack in Moscow, then it should be immediately transferred to Russia.
“On what basis do officials in Washington draw any conclusions in the midst of a tragedy about anyone’s innocence? If the United States has or had reliable data on this matter, then it must be immediately transferred to the Russian side,” she wrote in the Telegram channel.
The developments at Crocus are also being monitored by the UN, said Deputy Spokesperson of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq. “We are saddened by this news. We are trying to get more information about what happened,” he said (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Advisor to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, also said that Kyiv was not involved in the terrorist attack at Crocus.
