Taylor Swift’s “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” garnered 5.8 million in on-demand streams (audio and video combined) in the U.S. on its day of release, Feb. 12, according to initial reports to MRC Data. On Feb. 11, Swift announced that she had re-recorded her 2008 album Fearless, as Fearless (Taylor's Version), and that the updated lead single, “Love Story (Taylor's Version),” would be unveiled on Thursday night (Feb. 11). Fearless became Swift’s first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, while “Love Story” was her second Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit. Since then, Swift has tallied seven more No. 1 albums, and 27 more top 10 Hot 100 hits. Meanwhile, the original version of “Love Story” logged 672,000 on-demand streams on Feb. 12. On Feb. 11 it snared 504,000. In the days leading up to Feb. 11, the original “Love Story” would normally net between 270,000 and 325,000 daily streams. To put the Feb. 12 streaming figure for “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” in perspective, in the week ending Feb. 4, there were only 55 songs that logged more streams that week than “Love” did in a single day.

aylor Swift’s “Love Story” has turned into a tragedy for Scooter Braun. Swift’s re-record of her 2008 hit, “Love Story,” sold 125,000 copies this week, 90 percent of the sales from streaming. The song had 15 million streams. This isn’t a good omen for Scooter Braun, Scott Borchetta, and Shamrock Capital. The latter paid the former $300 million for the rights to Swift’s catalog from Big Machine Records. That was after they denied Taylor the right to own her own master recordings. But now Taylor has begun re-recording the old music in an effort to put the old records into oblivion. And it’s working. “Love Story” is the lead single from the re-recorded album, “Fearless,” which will come next. Swift’s fans are organized enough to be marshaled into turning Shamrock’s purchase into a massive write off. http://instagram.com/p/CLLg020DWZ_ “Love Story” will have a happy ending for Fearless Swift, not so much for the others.

Taylor Swift's re-recording of "Love Story" is now a success story. "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" debuted at No. 1 on this week's Hot Country Songs chart, according to Billboard. The song is shockingly Swift's first No. 1 debut on that chart. It is also her 8th career No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, the last one being 2012's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." "Love Story" was originally on Swift's album "Fearless," which was released in 2008. Swift has been hard at work re-recording that album after losing the rights to her master recordings predating 2019's "Lover" after they were sold to a company owned by music manager Scooter Braun. (Braun's company sold them in late 2020.) Swift's re-recording -- titled "Fearless (Taylor's version)" -- will be released April 9.

Taylor Swift's long-promised project of re-recording her first seven albums -- in an effort to reclaim control of her back catalog -- kicked off in earnest earlier this month with the release of "Love Story (Taylor's Version)," the first taste of the upcoming Fearless (Taylor's Version), a full-length second take at her 2008 breakout LP. The new "Love Story" hews fairly closely to the original version, with only subtle differences in performance and arrangement -- though ones that still suggest the 13-year gulf that exists between the two recordings. Fan response to the re-recording of Swift's first signature hit has been, well, swift: The song sold 10,000 copies on its first day of release, and debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Song Sales listing with its 25,000 in total sales last week. With additional help from 13.7 million in U.S. first-week streams (all figures according to MRC data), the song debuts at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, and No. 11 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 -- low by new Taylor Swift single standards, perhaps, but remarkably high for a re-recording of any kind by anyone. What kind of returns can we expect for the rest of Taylor Swift's re-recording project? And who else might we like to see take another crack at one of their classic albums? Billboard staffers discuss these questions and more below. 1. A No. 11 debut for "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" -- short of the top 10 and the original's No. 4 peak, but still very impressive for a new version of an old hit. On a scale from 1-10, if you're Taylor Swift, how happy are you with that showing?

Season seven American Idol runner-up David Archuleta got the surprise of his life on Friday (March 5) when his car karaoke cover of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" resulted in an unexpected thumbs up from the superstar.
The whole unlikely journey began on Thursday (March 4) when Archuleta posted a mash-up cover of his 2008 debut single "Crush" with Swift's iconic Fearless single.
The now-30-year-old Archuleta explained in a video that he got the idea from a Twitter follower, which segues into Swift's anthem swelling up and David crooning his love-sick song over "Love Story" in shockingly perfect harmony in a 45-second pop tour de force.
Here's the 'Folklore' Lyric Taylor Swift Is 'Really Proud Of' Swift spotted the homage and just hours later tweeted back, "I LOVE THIS!!!" along with three starry-eyed emoji.
And so a potential real-life collaboration was born when David replied, "Thank you! I live in Nashville now if you want to get together and write!"
Since his self-titled debut dropped in 2008, Archuleta has released seven more albums, including last year's Therapy Sessions, which the singer told Billboard was inspired by his own battles with self-worth and confidence. "When I first started [singing], all I knew was that I liked to sing, it made me feel good, and it made me feel understood," Archuleta said. "I’ve realized I still feel more fulfilled when I connect to why I started singing in the first place. I can have peace, I can have fun, but I can be honest -- and have the combination of all that, rather than just go after the catchiest, poppiest, trendiest thing. I just feel more relaxed, and back into who I am."
