Demi Lovato’s new album Dancing With The Devil … The Art Of Starting Over is out now. It’s the pop star’s first album since 2017’s Tell Me You Love Me, which means it’s also the first since the 2019 overdose that left her hospitalized and temporarily blind. As you might have inferred from the title, the album grapples directly with those demons and others. Consider the project’s most anticipated track, a duet with Ariana Grande called “Met Him Last Night.” The “him” in question is the devil, who is here depicted as a predator who attempts to take advantage of women by cracking jokes and buying drinks. Musically it’s a high-drama affair befitting two divas who love to wail, its string arrangements undergirded by throbbing synths and walloping programmed drums. “I don’t believe in you,” they sing, “’cause I know just how you do.”

Demi Lovato dropped her cathartic 19-track album Dancing With the Devil... The Art of Starting Over on Friday morning (April 2) and one of the most anticipated tracks, "Met Him Last Night," did not disappoint. The superstar collab with Ariana Grande is a dark, twisted fantasy about chilling with the devil and finding out that, well, he's kind of a funny, chill dude who might be relationship material. "I seen the devil, yeah, I met him last night/ One conversation, now he's spendin' the night," an urgent Lovato sings in a couplet that clearly has a much deeper meaning about flirting with disaster. "I think I love him, though I know it ain't right," the two singers wail together over a spare beat. To no one's surprise, Lovatics and Arianators lost their damn minds over the super-intense track about confronting demons in angel's clothing. Demi Lovato's 'Dancing With the Devil... The Art of Starting Over' is Here: Stream It Now "Got me like this THE HARMONIZATION HOLYYYYYYY," wrote one fan about the singers' interwoven vocal gymnastics, with another opining, "MET HIM LAST NIGHT IS SO GOOD, THEIR VOICES HARMONIZING TOGETHER I'M UNWELL." The singers, both managed by Scooter Braun, are a match made in heaven, according to a tweet that read, "Demi and ariana literally are polar opposites vocally but somehow they meshed so f--king perfectly on met him last night. i don’t know how they did it tbh." Even Braun himself couldn't quite deal, as evidenced by a tweet featuring a mind-blown emoji in reference to the song's bombastic bridge. "So incredibly proud of u and grateful to have been a part," Grande also tweeted.

Ariana Grande has become the unofficial denim icon of quarantine, purely because she's like the only person who has put on jeans in the past 12 months. While the rest of us were changing from pajamas to sweatpants and back again, Ari was out here rocking mom jeans with inspiring regularity. Since the very early stages of lockdown, Ari has been turning denim-centric looks that have me craving a good pair of blues (if only for the briefest of moments). Just like over-the-knee boots and her famous cat ears, the "34 + 35" singer has turned baggy jeans into her new style signature. http://instagram.com/p/CNF9Fn8lL13 Just yesterday, the staple earned yet another grid post. While on what appears to be a relaxing woodland hike, Ariana leaned into the grandma-chic 1990s aesthetic we're all actively working to replicate. The simple look was comprised only of loose-fit jeans, classic white sneakers, a face mask, and a simple taupe cardigan. Ariana's jeans come from Still Here and are still shoppable, if you're down with throwing down $235. Her lil flatform sneakers, however, are v affordable. Here's what you need to know: they're from celeb-favorite shoe brand Superga, they're currently on sale for $49, and they're available at basically every online retailer in multiple colorways, including Ari's white-on-white.

Coming out of this pandemic, it's hard to say that many of us have made new friends. It's not easy to have meaningful connections over Zoom, especially when Zoom is the last thing any of us want to do after a year after internet-only friend hangs.
But Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande seem to be the exception to the No New Friends pandemic rule. The two have collaborated on "Met Him Last Night," and the fans are into it.
In particular, they harmonize on these lyrics and it's pretty glorious: "I've seen the devil, yeah, I met him last night / One conversation, now he’s spendin’ the night / I think I love him, though I know it ain't right."
Fans are also into the friendship between these two, and Lovato is fine with that. During her TikTok "Headstream" on Saturday, she addressed the fact that people have been giving them a new nickname, Dariana.
Her answer: "It's nice to see my name mashed up with someone else's who's gonna be a friend forever. [Sometimes] my name's been mixed up with people that are no longer in my life and it makes me sad, but I know Ariana [Grande] is one that's always gonna be there. I love 'Dariana.'"
