The Academy of Country Music has revealed what it says is the full performance lineup for its April 18 awards show on CBS, a list of 29 performers that includes co-hosts Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton as well as major stars of the genre like Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Maren Morris and Luke Combs.
Also slated to appear on the three-show show are Dan + Shay, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton, Little Big Town, Kane Brown, Brothers Osborne, Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, Alan Jackson, Carly Pearce, Chris Young, Jack Ingram, Lee Brice, Ryan Hurd, Elle King, CeCe Winans, Jon Randall and the War and Treaty.
Although no songs were announced, it appears fairly certain that Lambert, Ingram and Randall will be joining up to premiere a song from their upcoming album as a Texas trio, “The Marfa Tapes,” due out May 7. Lambert and King recently released a joint single, “Drunk (and I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” making that another likely possibility for the show.
Mickey Guyton, Kane Brown, The War and Treaty and CeCe Winans are set to perform on the show. The Academy of Country Music is doubling down on is message that country needs to be more welcoming to artists of color by booking four Black artists to perform on the 56th ACM Awards on April 18.
Mickey Guyton, who is set to co-host the show with Keith Urban, is performing, as are Kane Brown, whose Mixtape Vol. 1 is up for album of the year; Americana duo The War and Treaty; and gospel great CeCe Winans, who is expected to team with Carrie Underwood to perform “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” which they recorded for Underwood’s current gospel album, My Savior.
The War and Treaty, a husband-and-wife duo consisting of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount, was named emerging artist of the year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards in 2019.
The other performers set to appear on the show are Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Luke Combs, Dan + Shay, Ryan Hurd, Jack Ingram, Alan Jackson, Elle King, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Carly Pearce, Jon Randall, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Urban, Underwood and Chris Young.
Notably absent from the performer lineup -- though of course it's not a surprise -- is Morgan Wallen, whose Dangerous: The Double Album spent its first 10 weeks on the Billboard 200 at No. 1. The ACM made headlines in January when it barred Wallen from the nominations process and from appearing on the ACM telecast for one year for his use of the N-word.

And the new male and female artist of the year ACM Awards go to ... Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett! The country stars were surprised with the honors ahead of the April 18 show, receiving video messages from the ceremony's co-host Keith Urban. "Stop playin'!" Allen, 34, exclaimed after he watched the video from Urban, 53, jumping up from his seat in the studio and pacing excitedly with a giant smile on his face before sitting down to watch the video again in an effort to soak it all in. "Do I give my acceptance speech now?" joked the "Best Shot" hitmaker, who beat out Travis Denning, HARDY, Cody Johnson and Parker McCollum for new male artist of the year. Barrett, 21, couldn't resist letting out a scream of delight upon being congratulated by Urban in her video and told the camera person after getting visibly emotional, "Oh my gosh, now I know why you told me to put on my makeup and get dressed!" "I don't really know what to say — this is unbelievable," continued the American Idol alum. "Thank you so much; this is such an honor. Ever since I came into the country-music community, everybody's been absolutely wonderful to me." "[The award is] more than I deserve," said Barrett, who took home new female artist of the year over Ingrid Andress, Tenille Arts, Mickey Guyton and Caylee Hammack. "This made the whole year for me!" In a release, Academy of Country Music CEO Damon Whiteside said, "We are thrilled to present Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett with their first ACM Award wins. Jimmie and Gabby have experienced tremendous success at both Country Radio and streaming already, and we are proud to recognize them for such an extraordinary start to their careers."

Mickey Guyton is sharing the efforts the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards is making to be more inclusive following the leaked video of Morgan Wallen saying a racial slur. "I think the topic of inclusivity being addressed is by the award show itself," the 37-year-old artist, who is hosting the April 18 event with Keith Urban, told E! News. "I'm part of the ACM Diversity Task Force….We started this in 2019, and they have been relentlessly working on diversifying the awards in front of the camera and behind the scenes. And that is showing up on the awards. And I'm just so excited to be a part of that change." According to a video shared by TMZ, Wallen was recorded saying the N-word in February. He issued an apology shortly after the clip surfaced. "I'm embarrassed and sorry," the 27-year-old singer said in a statement to E! News. "I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better." One day later, the Academy of Country Music announced Wallen would not be allowed to take part in this year's award show. "The Academy of Country Music will halt Morgan Wallen's potential involvement and eligibility for this year's 56th Academy of Country Music Awards cycle," the organization said in a tweeted statement. "We have made his management team aware of this decision. The Academy does not condone or support intolerance or behavior that doesn't align with our commitment and dedication to diversity and inclusion." The Academy also noted it would "expedite the offering of long-planned diversity training resources" for its ACM community, board members and country music artists, as well as review its awards eligibility and submission process to ensure its "nominees consistently reflect the Academy's integrity." This wasn't the first time Wallen faced backlash. Saturday Night Live canceled his October performance after he broke COVID-19 safety protocols by partying in Alabama. Wallen reflected on his actions in a note posted to Instagram earlier this week. "2020…Man, what a trash year for so many," he began. "For me, my tough year carried into 2021. I've made some mistakes, I'm figuring those out, & I apologized because I was truly sorry & have been making my amends."

Country music superstar Carrie Underwood is gearing up for the 56th annual Academy of Country Music Awards which will take place on Sunday night.
The ACM Awards are being held in Nashville for the second year in a row. And as a result, the 2021 program will be airing live from three locations around the city. Those spots include the Grand Ole Opry House, the Ryman Auditorium, and The Blue Bird Cafe.
This time around at the ACM Awards will certainly be a little different for Carrie Underwood. She just tied for the Entertainer of the Year prize last fall. However, she has not been included in that category this year. In addition, she was also shut out of the Female Artist of the Year category for the first time in her illustrious 15-year career.
But it isn’t all bad news for the Checotah, Oklahoma native. Underwood did receive a nomination for Video of the Year for “Hallelujah.”
Not only that but the Sunday Night Football singer will also be performing a few gospel songs on the night.
And in her most recent photo on social media, Underwood is prepping for tomorrow night’s performance. She is rocking a new fitness outfit from her CALIA by Carrie Underwood Spring line.
“This new @caliabycarrie is perfect for any kind of warm-up!” Underwood wrote alongside her photo. “See you at the #ACMAwards tomorrow! #StayThePath #ChooseYou #MySavior”
Carrie Underwood and Other Stars to Perform at ACM Awards There’s no doubt that we are all excited to see Carrie Underwood perform songs from her hit new album, My Savior. But there will also be plenty of other performances to get excited for.
The Academy of Country Music has announced a complete lineup of 29 artists. In addition to Underwood, stars in the industry like Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Brothers Osborne, Kane Brown, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris, Carly Pearce, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban are all set to perform.

After making history as the first Black solo female artist to earn a Grammy nomination in a country music category, Mickey Guyton’s star is about to rise even further. On Sunday, Guyton will make history again as the first Black woman to host the Academy of Country Music Awards, alongside Keith Urban, airing 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS. “My hopes are to bring positive light and love and acceptance to this job,” Guyton told NBC News. Though Sunday will mark Guyton’s first time hosting an awards show, she promises a good performance and several outfit changes. She noted that having the support of co-host Urban while preparing for the show has proven to be fun and valuable. ET takes a look at the Black artists making history at the ACM Awards. The ACMs air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT on April 18, as well as live and on demand on Paramount+ Category: AWARDS, MUSIC “You know, Keith Urban is from Australia and he had an affinity for country music,” she said. “I'm sure when he first started he wasn't getting the most welcoming arms and now he's here. He's using his platform to uplift me, and that means so much.” As of late, country music has witnessed a cultural shift in terms of representation. With artists like Rissi Palmer, Jimmie Allen, Willie Jones and Kane Brown, many people are seeing that country artists do not have to fit a certain mold.
