Alexandra Trusova is really an ideal athlete, just like Cristiano Ronaldo or Michael Jordan.
Teenage wind in my head, banal laziness, depression and loss of motivation - all this never had anything to do with the Russian Rocket. At any age, with any coach and in any condition, she remained a professional to the core.

Maxim Trankov - on cooperation with Tutberidze and expectations from the Russian national team at Euro
"You can try to send your daughter to the Tutberidze group in a year." Interview with Maxim Trankov
Two-time Olympic champion Sochi-2014, world champion and simply one of the most talented artists on the ice Maxim Trankov, who performed in tandem with ...
Trusova is not one of those athletes who have been given a lot from the very beginning simply thanks to talent - like, for example, the incredibly flexible Kamila Valieva, who also has such explosive muscles that when performing a quadruple jump without visible effort she flies to a height of a five and still has enough time to open up and land with a headroom.
Trusova became a living legend of figure skating by 90% thanks to her own enormous hard work and even fanaticism in relation to this sport.
Back in the 2016/17 season (debut in the group of Eteri Tutberidze ), she lost not only to Anna Shcherbakova, but also to Stanislav Konstantinova and Daria Panenkova .
However, the girl quickly adjusted to the new requirements, began to perform all the jumps in the second half of the program (then it brought + 10% of the base cost of each jump) and, most importantly, insisted that Tutberidze start teaching her quadruple jumps. Trusova did not have mesmerizing sliding, innate artistry or phenomenal flexibility - she had to use technique.
“It was my request to start learning quadruple jumps. How did Tutberidze react? First she said "no", then - "we'll see", then - "let's try a triple axel." When I jumped the first quadruple jump, I was very happy. The next ones have already gone easier, ”the figure skater said in the Match TV program.
Just a year later, in the 2017/18 season, Trusova became the undisputed leader of the country's junior national team. Her plan worked perfectly.
Already at the end of that season - at the junior world championship - Trusova performed purely two quads at once - sheepskin coat and salchow. It was a resounding victory with a world record for female technique at the time.
By her first adult season 2018/19, Trusova finally turned into a Russian Rocket, having learned the most difficult and expensive jump in the world - the quadruple lutz. And right in the course of that season, she mastered the quadruple flip and began to jump the axel in three and a half turns.
The last quadruple missing for her - rittberger - the girl learned and first landed in the group of Evgeni Plushenko in the summer of 2020.
She entered the Guinness Book of Records three times - as the first representative of women's single skating, who performed a quadruple lutz, flip and toe loop at official competitions.
Trusova also holds the record for the number of points for a free program - 166.62. She received this mark in the fall of 2019 at the Nepela Memorial, and since then neither Shcherbakova, nor Kostornaya, nor Valieva have been able to surpass this result in international tournaments.
Trusova never stopped in the development of technology and did not slow down. However, when moving to an adult level, she began to have serious problems with psychology. Performing purely five quadruple jumps in training, the girl could not cope with three in the competition.
As a result, in the 2019/20 season, she remained behind Anna Shcherbakova and Alena Kostornaya at the main starts and took only bronze in the Grand Prix finals, at the Russian Championship and at the European Championship.
In the next season, Trusova, in search of psychological stability, moved to the less competitive group of Evgeni Plushenko, where she was provided with the best conditions for training - a cottage next to the rink, free additional sliding classes, a lot of free ice and the individual attention of coaches.
However, even in such excellent conditions, psychological instability has not gone anywhere. Russian Rocket now lost at the main starts to Shcherbakova, Valieva and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva . At the Russian Championships and at the World Championships, she again became only the third.
After that, Trusova, apparently, realized that the main problem was not in the place, conditions or the coach, but in her own head. A beautiful athletic body, a well-trained jumping technique, progress in gliding and artistry - everything is with her. It remains only to show all this at the competition.
And Trusova returned to the Tutberidze group. I would like to believe that the 17-year-old figure skater will enter the Olympic season with a different psychological attitude - not to prove something to someone, but to take her by right.
