MPs ‘plot to oust Boris Johnson’ - BBC Newsnight 2,198 views • Jan 19, 2022 • Could the PM face a confidence vote in the coming days?
Boris Johnson has "categorically" denied he was warned a drinks party in the No 10 garden risked breaking lockdown rules.
"Nobody warned me that it was against the rules," the prime minister said.
Former aide Dominic Cummings says he warned the PM at the time, and has accused him of misleading MPs about it.
Pressure is now mounting on the prime minister and there are reports the target of 54 letters to trigger a vote of confidence will be met in the coming days.
Newsnight’s political editor Nick Watt reports. Kirsty Wark is joined by Conservative peer Lord Marland, Delyth Miles from Grassroots Conservatives and former Conservative cabinet minister David Gauke.

16,131 views • Jan 20, 2022 • Former cabinet minister David Davis has joined calls for Boris Johnson to stand down while backbencher Christian Wakeford has defected to the opposition, in a difficult day for the prime minister.
Mr Davis said the PM had failed to take responsibility for his actions, following revelations about lockdown parties in No 10 during Covid lockdown.
Mr Wakeford was among the MPs believed to have written a letter of no confidence in Mr Johnson.

What could a police investigation into No 10 lockdown parties mean for Boris Johnson? - BBC News 114,586 views • Jan 26, 2022 • The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into parties held in No 10 during the coronavirus pandemic.
Officers are looking into "potential breaches of Covid-19 regulations" in Downing Street and Whitehall since 2020, Commissioner Cressida Dick said.
She added that the investigation was launched after an internal inquiry led by civil servant Sue Gray passed information to the force.
Boris Johnson’s spokesman said the PM did not believe he had broken the law.
