Police zeroing in on subway shooting suspect 4,861 views May 25, 2022 Safety remains a concern for many in New York City knowing the person who killed an innocent man on the subway this weekend is still on the run. CBS2's John Dias has the latest. Andrew Abdullah, 25, remains on the loose after police say he shot and killed Goldman Sachs researcher Daniel Enriquez, 48, on board the Q train at 11.42am. Witnesses say he paced up and down the train car before he 'pulled out a gun and fired at the victim at close range as the trains [were] crossing the Manhattan Bridge,' NYPD Chief of Department Kenneth Corey said at a news briefing following the slaying. Once the train crossed the bridge, and pulled into the Canal Street station, Corey said, a witness pulled the emergency brake and train operator Luis Irizarry tried to revive Enriquez - who was later brought to a local hospital and pronounced dead. At the same time, police say, Abdullah fled the scene and handed his gun to a homeless man outside of the station on the way out. The homeless man then sold the weapon to another homeless individual for $10 and some cocaine, according to the Daily Beast. At that point, the second homeless individual stashed the weapon and directed police to it. A 9-millimeter handgun was later recovered by police on scaffolding nearby, the New York Times reports. Police are now entering the third day of their search for Abdullah, whom they say was last seen wearing a dark-hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and white sneakers. They had previously released surveillance footage of the suspect, though it remains unclear whether the man pictured is Abdullah - who has been arrested 19 times over the past decade and is facing a slew of charges for other alleged offenses.

CHINATOWN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police said the man wanted for the seemingly random deadly shooting aboard a Manhattan-bound Q subway train over the weekend turned himself in Tuesday.
The suspect, Andrew Abdullah, arranged his surrender with his Brooklyn based pastor, who visited the Fifth Precinct and worked out the details.
Earlier Tuesday morning, police officers descended on his girlfriend's apartment at 6 a.m., but the suspect was not there.
Authorities say the 25-year-old Abdullah, who has about 20 prior arrests, was the man seen pacing around the subway car before shooting 48-year-old Daniel Enriquez in the chest, killing him.
Abdullah has prior arrests for assault, robbery, menacing and grand larceny, in addition to three cases that are still pending.
Police say he was arrested on April 22 for allegedly being in possession of a stolen motorcycle, and that while the Brooklyn district attorney asked for $15,000 bail, the judge set a nominal bail of $1.

The career criminal sought in the subway shooting death of Goldman Sachs employee Daniel Enriquez last weekend was busted by cops Tuesday, as a minister and his attorneys were negotiating his surrender at a Chinatown stationhouse, according to police sources and his lawyers. Andrew Abdullah, 25, was hit with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the 11:42 a.m. shooting aboard a Manhattan-bound Q train on Sunday morning, police said at a briefing. “I’m glad for the city,” the slain man’s partner Adam Pollack said Tuesday after learning of the bust. “It doesn’t change anything for me, though. I don’t get any relief.” The suspect in the fatal Q-train shooting sat in a Rolls Royce outside the 5th Precinct Tuesday while negotiating his surrender. Andrew Abdullah, 25, turned himself in at the 5th Precinct in Chinatown after negotiating his surrender through a Brooklyn pastor. Abdullah sought to turn himself in to Mayor Eric Adams in negotiations through a Brooklyn bishop — who showed up at the 5th Precinct in a Rolls Royce Tuesday afternoon. But he was instead nabbed by cops at the Legal Aid Society offices in Manhattan when the talks were going on, police sources and the society said. Abdullah had been on the lam since the Sunday morning shooting on the last car of the train.
