DORSET, Vt. — Actor Treat Williams died Monday in a motor vehicle crash in Dorset, Vermont. The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Monday on Vermont Route 30 just north of Morse Hill Road. Police said a driver going south, tried to turn left into a parking lot. Police believe the driver signaled a left turn, and then turned into the path of a northbound 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle operated by Williams. Williams was unable to avoid the car and was thrown from his motorcycle. He suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was checked by medical personnel at the scene for minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital. Williams was wearing a helmet, police said. Richard Treat Williams had a nearly 50-year career including starring roles in the TV series “Everwood” and the movie “Hair.” He was a resident of Manchester Center.
