WASHINGTON/NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. President Biden said on Wednesday that the United States needs to continue supporting Ukraine in its war with Russia, saying he is concerned that infighting within the Republican Party in Congress could hinder support for Ukraine. He announced that he would soon give a speech explaining his reasons.
Asked if he was concerned that the chaos in Congress would prevent the United States from providing committed aid to Ukraine, he answered, "We are certainly concerned. However, there are many members of Congress who have said they support financial aid to Ukraine. "We recognize that we have majorities in both houses of Congress from both parties."
He also said he will give a speech on the issue and explain why maintaining commitments to Ukraine is so important to the United States and its allies. He also suggested there are other ways the U.S. could provide funding to Ukraine other than the package of aid that has been approved by Congress.

Donald Trump early Friday announced his endorsement of Rep. Jim Jordan to be the next speaker of the House. “He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” the former president wrote in a post to his social media site, Truth Social, that praised Jordan’s political record as well as his college wrestling achievements. News of the ex-president’s endorsement was broken by Fox News’ Sean Hannity and followed by Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas), who posted on social media that Trump had told him in a phone call he would back the Ohio Republican. Trump’s endorsement of Jordan could help sort out what seems likely to be a tumultuous race for the speakership after the ousting of Kevin McCarthy earlier this week. Jordan is a close Trump ally and one of the leading GOP lawmakers investigating President Joe Biden. He would be one of, if not the, most conservative members to hold the speaker’s gavel in recent memory should he be elected.

US media reported that former President Trump is considering a visit to the US Capitol.
According to multiple American media outlets, Trump is considering visiting the U.S. Capitol early next week to address opposition and Republican lawmakers.
The Republican Party, which holds the majority in the House of Representatives, dismissed Speaker McCarthy due to internal party differences, and confusion continues over the selection of his successor. Mr. Trump is considering a visit to ''unite the party,'' and if he actually visits, it would be his first visit since the attack on the US Capitol by Trump supporters in January 2021.
Trump also said in an interview with Fox News on the 5th that he would accept the Speakership of the House of Representatives for a short period of time if the process of choosing a successor is prolonged. Mr. Trump appears to be aiming to help settle the chaos and further strengthen his influence within the party.
