On the 7th, US federal prosecutors indicted Hunter Biden, 53, the son of President Joe Biden, on tax-related charges. This is the second time Hunter has been indicted.
According to the indictment, Hunter schemed to evade at least $1.4 million in federal taxes from 2016 to 2019.
He was charged with a total of nine charges, three felonies and six misdemeanors. These include crimes such as failure to declare and pay taxes, false tax returns, and evasion of assessment.
Hunter was indicted in September by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware on federal charges related to the gun purchase. He maintains his innocence.
The White House had no comment on the new indictment on Wednesday night. President Biden is seeking re-election in next year's presidential election, but in the House of Representatives, which is dominated by the opposition and Republican parties, Republicans are proceeding with an impeachment investigation against the president, with issues surrounding Mr. Hunter's business at the center of the investigation. .
If convicted in the tax case, Hunter could be sentenced to up to 17 years in prison.
