BRUSSELS (Reuters) - NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg said on Wednesday that NATO has no plans to send troops to Ukraine and that NATO is not a party to the Russia-Ukraine war.
On the 26th of last month, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that although there is currently no consensus among countries to send ground troops from European countries to Ukraine, he would not rule it out in the future. Stoltenberg appeared to distance himself from Macron's ideas.
In an interview with Reuters at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Secretary General Stoltenberg said that even if individual NATO member states sent troops to Ukraine, it would affect NATO as a whole, which provides for the right to collective self-defense.
Asked whether Macron had made a mistake in using the technique of "strategic ambiguity" to discuss the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine, he said: "We need to discuss such an important issue because it concerns us all. It is important to look for a common approach through this process."

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - Romanian President Iohannis announced on the 12th that he will run to become the next Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
In February, the United States, Britain, Germany, France and other countries expressed support for the appointment of Dutch Prime Minister Rutte as NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg. Iohannis announced his candidacy because NATO needs representatives from Eastern European countries. "The time has come for Romania to assume greater responsibility within the NATO leadership structure," he told reporters.
