On the 13th, US law enforcement authorities announced that they had arrested a man with a gun near the venue of former Republican President Trump's election rally held on the 12th in California.
The gun was loaded with ammunition, and a local official said at a press conference, "We believe we have thwarted (the assassination attempt)."
According to the announcement, the man is Bem Miller (49), a resident of the western state of Nevada. On the afternoon of the 12th, when Trump held his election rally in Coachella, California, a search of the suspect's car at a checkpoint near the entrance to the venue revealed a gun and other items, and he was detained. The rally went ahead as scheduled.
The suspect was also in possession of two guns, ammunition, fake travel passes for media personnel, and multiple passports under different names. He is believed to be a member of a far-right anti-government organization.
