Alina Zagitova won the Junior Grand Prix Final. After the competition the athlete spoke about how evolved her sports career, about the Pope - the coach of the hockey team, the younger sister Sabina, who is also engaged in figure skating. In addition, the young champion has opened a secret why parents gave her the name of Alina. - Alina, you first participated in the Grand Prix series. As far as it was a difficult debut, and that helped to cope with the pressure? - I am by nature a man, for me - the harder the better. My mom and dad are the same. The dad has been in hockey. the trainer of the team "Izhstal" Ilnas Zagitov. Before the Grand Prix there was certainly a thrill, because it is a serious start. I had to act with dignity, and I'm glad that happened. - When it was worse - the first Grand Prix or in the final? - In the second stage the Grand Prix. At first I did not really understand what it is. And to me, no one seriously staked. And when won the first place, I realized that you need a good performance in the second Grand Prix and go to the final. Psychologically it was difficult.

Catherine Carle admitted she knew virtually nothing about previous Canadian novice women’s figure skating champions. With help from coach Nancy Lemaire, though, the 13-year-old from Georgetown, Ont., was able to come up with the name of Madelyn Dunley, a Milton Skating Club teammate, in 2012. Neither of them, as it turned out, came up with the 2009 winner and subsequent two-time national senior champion Kaetlyn Osmond, who, as it turned out, was someone that Carle described as a skater she looked up to for inspiration. “This year I wasn’t expecting to win,” Carle said, “but, if I thought I made a pretty good shot, then I would have looked up whoever has won the trophy.” Based on Tuesday’s performance at TD Place arena, Carle probably should have done that little bit of homework before her first national championship experience. Already in the lead after Monday’s short program, she produced by a significant margin the best free-skate score of 91.85 points and the best overall total of 133.73.
