Taylor Swift has been named woman of the year at this year's Elle Style Awards. The singer, due to perform at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night, follows in the footsteps of fellow US star Katy Perry who won last year. Swift was presented with her award at the event by another winner, Sam Smith, who was named musician of the year. Cara Delevingne won the breakthrough actress award. She'll appear in DC Comics film Suicide Squad next year.  Guests at the event at the Sky Garden at London's 20 Fenchurch Street, commonly known as the Walkie Talkie Tower because of its distinctive shape, included Pixie Geldof and Naomi Campbell. MARC by Marc Jacobs designers Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley were awarded the contemporary brand award and were pictured backstage with MIA.  Burberry boss Christopher Bailey won the editor's choice award while Luke Evans, one of the stars of The Hobbit, was named actor of the year. He was handed his award by Ellie Goulding. Meanwhile, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was named model of the year.  She said: "I would say since, very early on in my modelling career everyone always told me, 'By the time you're 27 it's going to be over, so make sure you plan something else'. "And I'm 27 now and I think for me it was always really important that I'd built something for myself afterwards, and I hope that's what I'm doing and we'll see."  |

There's no bad blood between Jaime King and Taylor Swift. The two took their friendship to a new level when the actress revealed Taylor will be her baby's godmother. Jaime, who announced her second pregnancy last month, shared an adorable snap of her growing belly with Taylor hugging her from behind. The singer was equally excited about the news as she also posted her own happy snapshot to her social media account. Taylor is seen gently touching Jaime's belly while Jaime is all smiles.  Prepare yourselves to fall in love with Taylor Swift even more. Four-year-old San Antonio resident Jalene Salinas has been battling an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer in recent months. And while her parents have worked tirelessly to check off every item from her bucket list, there was one important item that was a bit harder to accomplish: Jalene wanted to dance with T. Swift to her hit single "Shake It Off." With a little help from Swifties around the world, #ShakeItOffJalene started trending on Twitter over the weekend. Fast-forward to Monday evening around 6 p.m. and the Salinas family got a call they would never forget. Yes, the 25-year-old Grammy winner was ready to FaceTime with the young fan. "I'm so sorry you're having a bad night, I'm so happy to talk to you though and I'm so happy you like ‘Shake it Off'" Swift said during the 20-minute conversation. "You look beautiful tonight, you really do. You're just as pretty as your pictures." Dreams do come true! "We can check everything off and as her mom it just, it means the world to me that she got to do and see [everything] and everything is checked off now," Jalene's mother Jennifer Arriagas told KENS 5 News after the surprise call. "It means so much to me that you reached out to us." But as it turns out, Swift and her team may be the ones grateful for the opportunity. "Everyone in the car with me is crying right now," Swift shared. As for Jalene's health today, her family continues to update supporters including Taye Diggs on Facebook. "She is awake and able to communicate but is very weak. She still has fight in her," one post read this week. "She is still determined. She still gives me a big smile when she sees I need one and is constantly telling me she loves me."  |

 When this baby starts crying, all it takes is some Taylor Swift to shake off her tears. On February 21, YouTube user Erica Blank uploaded the following video of Rosie, an adorable baby who loves Taylor Swift. The video depicts Rosie crying, but the moment Swift's "Blank Space" is played, Rosie's tears instantly faded. The video quickly went viral, with nearly 600,000 views of Tuesday. Rosie's adorable crying found it way back to Swift, who tweeted the video to her followers on Monday. Rosie’s mom, Erica Blank, says her daughter was tired because it was close to nap time. “I asked my husband, Jon, to pull up ‘Blank Space’ on the computer, mostly because we wanted to videotape Rosie’s reaction to the song,” the first-time mom says. It’s not an isolated event, either. Erica said Swift manages to get Rosie’s attention in the car, too. “Rosie isn’t a fan of her rear-facing carseat and the little owl I hung up for her back there. When she’s fussy I play her favorites: ‘Blank Space’ or ‘Shake It Off’ … and she calms right down.” |
