Last year we saw the Queen deviate from tradition and invite the former actress when she and Prince Harry were engaged – not married.
Although the Duchess of Sussex is estranged from her father Thomas Markle and her half-siblings, she is incredibly close to her LA-based mother Doria Ragland.
Ms Ragland was the only member of her family at the wedding in May and the Royal Family appear to have welcomed her with open arms.
So much so, that there have been reports that the Queen has invited Meghan’s mum to join them at Sandringham this year – but it’s unclear whether this is actually true.
“My understanding is that she’s not going.
“I don’t think that’s because they weren’t able to or anything like that, I just think it’s not usual for in-laws to go,” royal correspondent Victoria Murphy tells Yahoo UK‘s The Royal Box.
“I know it was suggested that she was going to go, but that was never confirmed.”
The Duchess of Sussex said she was "feeling very pregnant" as she met residents at a care home for retired actors, directors and entertainers.
Meghan, who is expecting her first child in the spring, was visiting Brinsworth House in Twickenham, southwest London, a residential nursing home run by the Royal Variety Charity.
The royal, herself a former actress, appeared to let out a sigh of relief as she sat down to talk to one of the residents, former West End actress Josephine Gordon.
Remember the other day when Samantha Markle published a Christmas letter to Meghan Markle in the tabloids? It was weird/iffy, but the overall message of her note wasn't terrible. Basically, she asked Meghan to get in touch with their dad and issued some happily holiday vibes:
Dear Meg, This is not meant to be formal. The holidays are a time for family and are sentimental. As you know, dad has been trying to contact you and is very hurt because you are avoiding him. Life is short and you know dad is wonderful. Please give him joy in his last years by showing that you love him. The time is NOW. Please think about this. Your sister, Samantha
Buuuut flash-forward to Christmas Day and Samantha's changed her tune, tweeting a message to Meghan that's best described as...mean with a side of Grinch-y. "I’ve never seen anyone so rude and hurtful and heartless and absent a soul in my life," Samantha tweeted on December 25. "Shame on you for what you have done to our father. No PR machine can fix this. I retract the merry Christmas, you don’t deserve it. How dare you walk into a church."
This performance went down during Immaculate Heart High School's 1998 Christmas show in Los Angeles, when Meghan was just 17. Flash-forward 20 years, and Meghan is a literal Duchess married to a literal Prince, and sadly something tells me she won't be putting on a performance of "Santa Baby" for the Queen this year. Though, to be quite honest who knows what kinds of hijinks go on behind the palace walls. What happens at Sandringham stays at Sandringham, etc.
Santa is delivering his gifts a day early this year! Which is my lame dad joke way of saying that a truly iconic throwback video of Meghan Markle just surfaced. In this gem of a vid, obtained by The Daily Mail, a teenage Meghan Markle can be seen dancing to "Santa Baby" with a friend while wearing a festive hat. And she is giving! it! her! all!
Since she became the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has brands itching to be worn by her — because every time she does, the pieces sell out immediately. So, any time something she’s worn becomes available to us (especially when it’s at one of our favorite retailers) we sit down and take note. And we’re here to tell you that one of her favorite luxury handbag brands, DeMellier, just landed at Nordstrom!
In case you need a refresher, Meghan carried this gorgeous green DeMellier Mini Venice Grained Leather crossbody during an outing in Cardiff, Wales with Prince Harry in January (months before they were married and expecting). She wore an all-black ensemble, so the pop of green really caught our eye and had us reaching for our wallets. Each DeMellier handbag is crafted with Italian leather and symbolizes a mix of heritage but with a modern twist. The brand’s mission is to create handbags of the highest quality, but in a non-Duchess’ price range (i.e. under $500, which is an amazing price for a quality bag).
