Years before Prince Harry met and fell in love with his wife Meghan Markle, he had been pretty close to marrying his on-off girlfriend of seven years, Chelsy Davy. Chelsy attended Meghan and Harry's wedding this year, but she was also Harry's date at Kate Middleton and Prince William's wedding in 2011. That was the day that reportedly convinced her that she didn't want to be Harry's bride, though, when she imagined herself in Kate's role. Journalist Angela Levin wrote in her royal biography Harry: Conversations with the Prince (via The Mirror) that “a friend revealed that seeing the enormity and pomp of the day convinced Chelsy that she and Harry had been right to separate. Although they had a lot in common, she saw clearly that because they came from such different worlds it could never have worked, especially as she valued her privacy and guarded it so carefully.” Chelsy and Harry ultimately ended things then and had one last reconciliation attempt in summer 2015. Royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote in her biography of Harry that they had "one last hurrah" in Africa during a secret private trip. They didn't get back together at the end, as Chelsy knew she didn't want to lead such a public life. In June 2016, Chelsy spoke to The Times about how tough the media attention was when she was dating Prince Harry. “It was so full-on: crazy and scary and uncomfortable," she said. "I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid, and it was horrible.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle headed out in London on Wednesday for a very public date night! The newlyweds attended a special West End performance of the smash musical Hamilton to raise funds for one of Harry’s longtime charities, Sentebale, which he set up alongside his friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho. Meghan wore a $595 black tuxedo minidress by Judith & Charles for the event. She paired the chic outfit with heels and had her hair swept into a bun.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Loughborough University on Monday — some 100 miles north of London — where they met with honorees from Coach Core, a program that trains young people to become coaches and encourages the next generation of athletes. Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, watched as British marathon runner Paula Radcliffe, tennis star Laura Robson and netball player Eboni Beckford-Chambers led 200 apprentices through a series of drills and mentoring. Meghan, who took part in a passing drill (which resulted in a sweet hug from Harry!), left her sneakers at home, and instead opted for heels and a blue belted top by Oscar de la Renta and black flared pants by Altuzarra.

A royal photographer has said he’s seen a ‘massive change’ in Prince Harry, since he married Meghan Markle in May. The Sun’s Arthur Edwards, who has been following the royal family for over 44 years and has known Harry since he was a baby, has spoken about the difference in the Duke on episode 8 of Yahoo UK’s series The Royal Box. Mr Edwards said: “He’s become more distant, he’s not the good old Harry anymore. “He is certainly the Duke of Sussex now.”
