When it comes to choosing a royal nanny, Meghan Markle has got it covered.
“The Duchess of Sussex is up to date on all the different options, she knows what she’s doing, she’s done her research and she knows exactly what she is looking for,” Sarajane Ambrose, founder of Imperial Nannies, a leading childcare agency in London who has experience of placing nannies with royal families, tells PEOPLE.
With just weeks to go until Meghan and Prince Harry welcome their new baby, the royal couple who have recently moved into Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, will already have hired a maternity nurse, says Ambrose, who has in the past worked with members of the British royal family as well as European royals.
“They are specialists at looking after newborns and will teach the mother all about the care of her individual baby – they will then hand over to a nanny at a certain point, usually around the 3-month point.”
The Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex have come together for their first joint engagement since they were pictured attending the annual church service at Sandringham on Christmas Day.
Kate, 37, and Meghan, also 37, attended a reception in the White Drawing room at Buckingham Palace thrown by the Queen to mark the 50th anniversary of her son Charles' investiture as Prince of Wales.
Their husbands, along with Prime Minister Theresa May, were among the guests at the event honouring Charles's contribution to the national life of Wales over the decades.
Charles was created the Prince of Wales at the age of nine, on July 26 1958, and was formally invested with the title at Caernarfon Castle by the Queen on July 1 1969.
The investiture regalia he wore was on display, including the coronet, sword, ring and rod, as well as the Letters Patent for the creation of Charles as Prince of Wales in 1958.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have given the royal tour of their new home to Queen Elizabeth.
The 93-year-old monarch recently paid a visit to the soon-to-be parents to see the newly renovated Frogmore Cottage, which was given to the couple by the monarch. The former staff residence was transformed into a single-family home of about five bedrooms ahead of the royal baby’s birth.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new home is on the grounds of Windsor Castle, one of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip‘s favorite royal residences, about 25 miles outside London.
“When the Queen is there on a Sunday afternoon, it is a five-minute walk up the hill for tea with Granny. It is gorgeous,” a former palace staffer previously told PEOPLE.
Meghan Markle had a surprise up her sleeve — literally! — at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.
The Duchess of Sussex, who made her first official royal appearance since welcoming baby Archie Harrison on May 6, was seen riding in the carriage with husband Prince Harry and her in-laws, Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, wearing a navy Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy ensemble with flutter sleeves and a high neckline. She accentuated it with a navy Noel Stewart hat, a navy clutch and stud earrings.
But by the time she made it onto the Buckingham Palace balcony at Queen Elizabeth’s annual birthday celebration, she had removed the capelet component of her look to reveal contrasting white sleeves on her navy sheath dress.
We’ve all heard the rumors: Something’s not right between the Sussexes and the Cambridges. Now that Prince Harry has split from Prince William’s charity, rumors have only grown — but according to a royal expert, a lacking announcement at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding sparked those feud rumors, which could have been easily avoided. Per the expert, Meghan and Harry had just announced early on that they planned to live elsewhere and separate their organizations from William and Kate Middleton, these rumors would never have existed.
ITV’s Good Morning Britain was discussing the news of the Sussex and Cambridge royals splitting their charities when royal expert Katie Nicholl chimed in with her analysis. “I’ll tell you what I think went wrong if I am being honest,” she said. “I think had they announced that there was going to be a separate household at the time of the wedding, or shortly after, and a new charitable foundation, it would have felt very natural, it would have felt very timely and possibly we wouldn’t have had this whole narrative and the rumors of the rift being fueled.”
Good Morning Britain continued to debate the issue, acknowledging that the split was registered as a surprise to the general public, who wondered if there might be some more insidious reason behind it. “People are probably saying ‘you know, is there now a separate foundation because as a foursome they do not get on?'” the hosts asked. Nicholl maintained her position: “All of that would have been avoided, had the announcement they would be a separate household and a separate foundation before.”
