Music producer David Foster, 69, told DailyMail.com that he hooked up the royal couple with accommodation in a secluded waterfront estate in North Saanich, owned by a close friend of the Canadian songwriter – but declined to identify the owner.  Foster said his wife, 35-year-old Hollywood actress Katharine McPhee, who went to school with Meghan in Los Angeles, discovered that the Duke and Duchess were in need of a discreet spot for their first Christmas holiday with seven-month-old Archie and Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, and he was happy to oblige. Showing no signs of stopping, about 12.35 million acres have burned in Australia, destroying more than 1,400 homes and claiming the lives of about 23 people. According to CBS News, "more than half a billion wild animals have perished in the flames" and the number is expected to "exponentially increase." On Saturday, Jan. 4, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram to send a powerful message to Australia, its residents who have been forced to evacuate their homes and the volunteer firefighters that have been fighting the flames. "Our thoughts and prayers are with those across Australia who are continuing to face the devastating fires that have been raging for months," Meghan and Harry wrote on Instagram, alongside devastating images of the effects of the wildfires in Australia. The Sussexes are kicking off 2020 in an amazing way. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first official royal engagement of the year will be a visit to Canada House in London. It will take place really soon on Jan. 7. They will meet with the High Commissioner of Canada to the UK and the duo will visit the Canada gallery and view an exhibition by the artist Skawennati, per multiple reports. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back from their Christmas break — and paying tribute to the country that hosted their winter getaway! The royal couple just announced that their first royal engagement of 2020 will be on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when they will visit the Canada House in London. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will meet with Janice Charette, High Commissioner in Canada to the U.K. as well as staff “to thank them for the warm Canadian hospitality and support they received during their recent stay in Canada.” Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, will also visit the Canada Gallery and view a special exhibition by Indigenous Canadian artist Skawennati and meet members of the High Commission team who work in a range of sectors supporting the partnership between Canada and the UK.
