Selena Gomez has been given the gift of life from her best friend. The 25-year-old singer revealed that the reason she quietly stepped back from her career over the summer was because she was recovering from a kidney transplant. “I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of,” Gomez captioned the Instagram post. “So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.”

Selena Gomez became emotional as she remembered a family that drowned last month after their van was tragically swept away in the rising floodwaters in her hometown of Houston during Hurricane Harvey. At Tuesday’s celebrity telethon to raise money for hurricane relief efforts, Gomez spoke through tears as she remembered the Saldivar family – relatives of the late singer Selena Quintanilla. “August 27, seven members of the Saldivar family tried to escape the rising flood waters. Their van is swept into the bayou, only Sammy Saldivar manages to survive,” Gomez, 25, said during the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief telethon. “I come from Grand Prairie, about 250 miles away from the Saldivar’s home.”

Selena Gomez took to Twitter on Monday afternoon for a "Stream With Selena" session, in which she answered questions from followers over the course of 30 minutes. Most of her fans wanted to know about her upcoming album, but one asked the question we've all been wondering for months: Who was her favorite character to play in the "Bad Liar" video? "Probably the mom character!" she said in a tweet. "It was such a twist at the end, I love how it all came together." As you may remember, Selena portrayed the four main characters in the "Bad Liar" mini-flick, including a teenager, her mom, her dad, and a female teacher. The four-minute storyline is riveting, and not just because you get to see Selena rock multiple '70s looks, including a stick-on mustache. Plus, the ending really is such a twist, so it's interesting to hear which part of her performance Selena liked the most.

Selena Gomez is the latest face of PUMA, and she is seriously crushing that crushed velvet. As if we didn't love America's most-followed Instagrammer enough for her winning personality alone, Selena Gomez also just nabbed a hot new athleisure deal that makes us love her more. PUMA just added Gomez to their family of public faces, which, in her new role, will consist of her collaborating on the brand with a slew of ongoing projects. First up? This Insta that is literally making me want to go to my parent's house and dig out my Juicy Couture sweatsuit from 1999:

Selena Gomez is a master of date night style, as she has consistently demonstrated while out with The Weeknd. The singer is also well-versed in working a touch of sex appeal into her off-duty daytime wardrobe, as she did earlier today when she stepped out in New York wearing bright red strappy sandals from Stuart Weitzman. The punchy hue and barely-there silhouette brought an ultra-flirty element to her classic blue jeans and printed blouse, and best of all, could easily transition to after dark. Gomez wore the same pair to support The Weeknd when he performed at a New York Fashion Week party, only she styled them with a pale pink party dress. Today, she proved the shoe’s versatility by sporting it with more casual separates; the contrasting blue color palette really made the red hue pop. Her Coach Selena Grace bag added a sense of sophisticated structure, while blacked-out round sunglasses lent a touch of cool. All she would need to do is swap her jeans for a skirt to take the look for dinner and dancing a deux.
