On Thursday, U.S. women’s soccer team player Ali Krieger bashed President Trump, telling CNN’s Alysin Camerota that Trump was “kind of an abuser” while at the same time lauding Barack Obama for tweeting praise at the team.
Camerota also brought up Krieger’s tweet attacking the president after he targeted Krieger’s teammate Megan Rapinoe when Rapinoe had stated she would not go to the "f***ing White House."
Krieger had tweeted, “I know women who you can’t control or grope anger you, but I stand by @mpinoe & will sit this one out as well. I don’t support this administration nor this fight against LGBTQ+ citizens, immigrants & our most vulnerable.”
Trump had tweeted, “I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose. Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team. Be proud of the Flag that you wear. The USA is doing GREAT!”

Despite a proposal announced on Friday by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to invest $1 billion in the women's game over the next four years and double prize money at the Women's World Cup in 2023, U.S. captain Megan Rapinoe said women soccer players are not respected equally by their sport's international governing body. "It certainly is not fair," Rapinoe said of the gap in prize money awarded at the men's and women's World Cups. "We should double it now and use that number to double it or quadruple it for the next time. That's what I mean when we talk about, 'Do we feel respected?'" FIFA doubled the 2015 prize money for the Women's World Cup to $30 million in 2019 and raised the amount awarded to the winning team to $4 million. At last year's men's World Cup, France received $38 million for winning the title from a $400 million purse, and earlier this year, FIFA announced it would raise the men's pool to $440 million for 2022. That means that while the women's purse will increase to a proposed $60 million in 2023, the gap between the men and women will increase the next time around. "Earlier in the year, a quote came out that I said, 'FIFA doesn't care about the women's game,' and that's what I mean," Rapinoe said. "If you really care about each game in the same way, are you letting the gap grow? No. Are you scheduling three finals on the same day? No. Are you letting some federations play two games in the four years between each tournament? No, you're not."

Outspoken off the pitch, but always delivering on it, this has been some World Cup tournament for US star Megan Rapinoe.
Sunday's World Cup final was no different. Rapinoe scored and then picked up both the Golden Ball and Golden Boot awards, but she was quick to praise her teammates after the USWNT's 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in Lyon.
"We're crazy, that's what makes us special," said Rapinoe in an post-match interview broadcast on the BBC. "We have no quit in us, we're so tight and we'll do anything to win.
"It's unbelievable just to know all of the people in our group that put in so much work: the players, our friends and family are here, it's surreal. I don't know how to feel right now, it's ridiculous."

Megan Rapinoe gave a birthday shoutout to her brother, who is a recovering addict, after the US Women’s National Team won its second straight World Cup on Sunday. Rapinoe, who scored the opening goal in the 2-0 match, addressed her 38-year-old brother during an on-field interview after her historic victory. “Just one thing: Happy birthday, Brian. I love you so much,” Rapinoe said as she blew a kiss to the camera. Brian could not make the trip to France to watch his superstar sister because he is booked into a San Diego rehabilitative program that allows an inmate to finish the final 12 months of their sentence taking classes outside of prison, according to ESPN. “Megs, breaks my heart that you couldn’t fly me out for an all-expenses-paid trip to France,” the brother texted his soccer-star sister ahead of the games.

It seems that #RelationshipGoals is thrown around a lot these days. But I must say, if there's any pair that seems to embody just that lately, it's soccer star Megan Rapinoe and her girlfriend, basketball great Sue Bird. Both have plenty of accolades to go around. As co-captain of soccer's US Women's National Team, Rapinoe, 34, and her team just won the FIFA Women's World Cup. She's also captain of Seattle's Reign FC, while Bird, 38, has been with the WNBA's Seattle Storm since 2002. She's won three championships with the basketball team. And between the two of them, they have five Olympic gold medals. Impressive doesn't even begin to describe it. http://instagram.com/p/BzpsEw7nBWn “I have opinions, and they can be set,” Bird told the Seattle Times in June. “And she challenges me in ways that I think can be hard at times because it forces you to look at things very differently. It’s been healthy for me. While my nutrition has always been healthy, my mind is a little healthier as well.” http://instagram.com/p/BzoJzdsnISW So how did these respective legends find each other? Well first of all, they both live in Seattle, so that helps. But (of course) it all started at the most fitting venue: the Olympics. Catch their charming story below.
