Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his partner Carrie Symonds are engaged and are expecting a baby in early summer, the couple have announced. Ms Symonds wrote on Instagram that they got engaged at the end of last year, adding she felt "incredibly blessed". Mr Johnson, 55, and Ms Symonds, 31, became the first unmarried couple to occupy Downing Street when they moved in last year. Ms Symonds is also the youngest partner of a prime minister in 174 years. It will be a third marriage for Mr Johnson - who divorced his first wife and is now estranged from second wife Marina Wheeler. Earlier this month, a court heard that the prime minister and Ms Wheeler were preparing to end their marriage after reaching an agreement over money. Ms Wheeler and Mr Johnson, who have four children, separated in 2018 after marrying in 1993. He is always reluctant to talk about his private life and his children, but it was announced that he is to become a father again. Rumours had swirled at Westminster as his partner Carrie Symonds - a prominent environmental campaigner - hadn't been seen regularly. And she had just appointed her own PR adviser, paid for from Conservative funds. They are the first unmarried couple to move in to Downing Street and they have now announced their engagement. If they tie the knot, Boris Johnson will become the first prime minister to have got divorced and married in office since the Earl of Grafton in 1769 - another recent divorced man with a colourful private life.

Carrie Symonds announced she and Prime Minister Boris Johnson are expecting their first child in a touching Instagram post. The pair are also set to marry after getting engaged in secret at the end of last year, Miss Symonds said. They were the first unmarried couple to occupy Downing Street when they moved into No. 10 last year - and Mr Johnson will now become the first British prime minister to marry in office for 250 years. Their baby will be at least the sixth child with three different women for Mr Johnson, who is going through a divorce with his second wife. They'll be the first couple in No 10 to welcome a child since Tony Blair in 2000. Miss Symonds' Instagram post states: "I wouldn't normally post this kind of thing on here but i wanted my friends to find out from me... "Many of you already know but for my friends that still don't, we got engaged at the end of last year... and we've got a baby hatching early summer.

Carrie was pictured on the Prime Minister’s Twitter account “10DowningStreet”. The post was in honour of International Women’s Day. The caption read: “Tomorrow it’s #InternationalWomensDay. “We celebrated earlier this week by hosting a reception at Downing Street.” Carrie wore a 70s inspired maxi dress with a multicoloured floral pattern. She added hoop earrings to the look. Carrie dress was from high street store Anthropologie. The girlfriend to the Prime Minister was visibly pregnant. Her engagement ring appeared to be a large blue sapphire ringed in diamonds with a striking resemblance to Kate Middleton’s.

Carrie Symonds has been spotted in public wearing an incredible engagement ring from Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The gem is huge and colourful, but what is it and how much did it cost? WP Diamonds CEO, Andrew Brown, told Express.co.uk: “Carrie’s ring looks to be a 3-carat square-ish emerald, surrounded in an ornate pattern by approximately 2 carats of diamonds. “Assuming the emerald has little-to-no treatment, the ring would likely retail for approximately £25,000 to 35,000.” However, emerald is considered by experts to be a bad choice of stone for an engagement ring. The green gems are thought to be too soft for everyday wear, making chips and scratches risky. Diamonds, on the other hand, are incredibly hard - one aspect behind their rise to stone of choice for engagement rings.
